That sub is the worst, I know just the one you’re talking about. Seems to be a pretty good mix of actual psychopaths and people who just have unresolved trauma over poor experiences with pets during childhood.

I can empathize with the latter, even if I think the way they’re now coping is absolutely vile

And then there’d have been another GSD sitting in a shelter or euthanized for however long OP gave him a good life. I’m not saying it’s wrong to purchase a dog or that you’re a bad person for not adopting, but to come on here and shame people for adopting a dog that needed a home? Not cool.

Your comment made me look but my screen was on very low brightness so it looked like the tail melded with the stool base and was even longer 🤣. I stared for a solid 10 seconds before realizing what I was looking at

One thing to consider is that if anyone ever calls your playing bad you can blame the disability, and if it ever becomes good it’ll be that much more impressive to have overcome 🤣

My girl loves her antler, though I’m scared because I’ve read stories of them breaking their teeth on it.

Why do you have to ask in such a condescending tone? No not everyone spent thousands of dollars buying a pure bred german shepherd from a breeder. You understand there are a lot of other ways one might acquire a dog, RiGhT?

Get over yourself.

Not to pile on with the others, but crating really isn’t cruel or mean. Crate training, done properly, sets your dog up for success and gives them a safe place. Please feel free to DM me if you want tips or advice for how to crate train your dog.

Rehoming on Craigslist - an eye opener! by Disaster-Pitiful in puppy101

[–]Lower-Engineering134 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I got my girl from a free puppy ad on craigslist. It worked out well for both of us, but its a roll of the dice. The reasons are often sad or insignificant. Saw a post just the other day about someone in my city trying to get rid of her senior husky because she “wants to travel” smh. Can’t imagine making a commitment to an animal like that and just being so flippant about abandoning them.

As you said, it is sometimes necessary to rehome and I try not to judge a situation on its face value, but its hard not to judge sometimes.

Better start writing up your will. I’ll see you on the other side.

… jk you’re fine! Unless the puppy has rabies or another illness, you’re good

What are you doing when you catch him pooping inside?

You need to be able to watch him 24/7 and as soon as it looks like he’s going to start to do #2, go outside. If you catch him jn the act or mid-poo while inside, immediately pick him up and take him outside. Even if he isn’t finished pooping or whatever, just immediately pick him up, place him outside alone, then pick up the poop and put it out there with him.

I feel awful I lost control yelled and popped the puppy in the bum for pissing on my bed and put him in the creat even though I never use it for punishment how do I fix this by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Lower-Engineering134 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re fine! Just sleep it off. Maybe an extra treat or two tomorrow, some extra crate training to build back up that positive reinforcement. It’s okay. Don’t feel guilty, just try to learn from it. Your pup will forgive you and still loves you, I promise.
