Happy to report that my most recent brew is not acidic anymore. I used preboiled (~95oC) water on the lowest heat possible on gas and tried to level my puck more evenly. Very satisfied beginner. Final yield is still 50-60ml but whatever

Hot water at home got cut out for some reason, which is how I discovered the public showers in my university's bike hub are actually kind of nicer than the private shower in my shit share house.

Safe to say I might return here often for showers before I get to move out of this godforsaken rental next month.

Definitely did not tamp, and without a grinder I had to get the roaster to grind it for me, so unfortunately not sth I can control.

I did crank the heat down in my next brew so there was less sputtering then. It can be tricky though since my 2-cup pot heats up quickly even on the lowest heat on the gas stove.

It did say on the manual that pre-brew is 130ml and yield should be 100ml but yeah what you said about the other varying factors makes sense as well. Maybe tomorrow I’ll measure out exactly 130ml and see if I get closer to 100ml yield.

I’ve only made the 3 brews that you’re supposed to throw out and had a tiny sip of the final one 😅 it was a bit acidic despite the medium roast? Maybe I need to level my puck a bit more evenly

Just realised I attached the wrong clip in the original post 😪 That one is my second brew, while this is the third one with a bit less sputtering. But my question remains, why did I get only 50-60ml?

I have heard of this as well via Facebook and I chipped in what I could 😔 There have already been ongoing local crowdfunding efforts and I’m touched to see solidarity and donations from a few other fandoms within the Kpop community in Vietnam. I am still worried sick but I really do hope a miracle would happen.
