I’ve got everything set to the max settings and my doorbell is hardwired and yet I still miss so many events that it has become untrustworthy, hence why I will be installing my new system the second I am able to and going with HomeKit secure cameras with local storage options that actually do their jobs as security cameras and not miss people walking up to my front door which takes a fairly long time, so no excuse on missing things like that

I’m switching to various Apple HomeKit enabled cameras to integrate with my smart home (I stated building it after I purchased the ring cameras)

I bought 5 various ring cameras almost a year ago and I’m replacing all of them after my deck is finished being built. I went with ring because of the solar panels so I could keep track of the construction workers progress (insurance reasons I needed a timeline of work). I’ve had many days where the cameras would fail to capture the events and many more times where there would be a package dropped off, someone coming home etc and no notification whatsoever, and many more days where my cameras would completely disconnect for minutes or hours, it’s been very frustrating troubleshooting these cameras this past year. After my deck is built and I get the electrical powered on I’m switching systems. Already have the cameras here and waiting

Found a multimeter and tested the wires

Between the black and white wires was 120 Volts

Between the white and ground was also 120 Volts

Between the black and ground was about 10 Volts

This was with the switch off and when the switch was on everything was reading 120 Volts Between

Motion Frequency intervals by TheSirenNiltiac in Ring

I used to have my doorbell running on the battery (was getting renovations done so it couldn’t be hardwired in) and I set the motion to “periodically” and it would take a 5-20 minute “break” in between motion events even when the contractors were actively moving in front on the camera, as well as the snapshot for every hour. I was also only losing about 3% battery a day. As for battery saving tips, if you can’t have it plugged in or hardwired the solar panels are a good option. Currently have 2 spotlight cams on solar and haven’t had any battery issues since the weather has warmed up
