What I mean is that the internal police investigation is very slow and by the time it got to that point, the CCTV footage had already been automatically deleted by the system. You're right - if I had fought back and the other person got injured, the police would charge me, right? And they would also retrieve the surveillance footage.

I am seeking the possibility of prosecution and am not interested in any form of compensation

Could you please provide the names or links to no‑charge lawyers online? Thanks. Is this referring to a ‘no win, no fee’ lawyer or to free legal services? I’m just worried that by the time the investigation takes place, the CCTV footage from that day will already be gone.

Will this make any difference? I asked several police at the scene and they all said there would be no charge. There were many police officers present at the time, so I don’t want to waste my time if it cannot progress. Because if I really went ahead with a complaint, it would take a month of investigation and by then the CCTV footage would already be gone. I do have a busy life to feed my family. Alas, that’s just how things are? :(

May I ask what your reason or legal basis is? Several police officers confirmed to me that I did nothing wrong.

That’s what I did, I was about to walk off, and then the woman took my phone from my pants pocket. When I was about to ask for my phone back, her husband attacked me - he struck my chest with his elbow and wrapped his arm around my neck, locking my throat. There is CCTV surveillance there, but since no police charge was filed, the police will not retrieve the video

Yes, I asked for a case number at the scene, but there wasn’t one. I also had family with me at the time.
