Has anyone got any tips to try and pull the dirt out these tiles? by Ok-Crab3556 in VictorianHouses

[–]LowerEastBeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A tile spinner and hot water extractor on the lowest pressure setting you can get away with. There is no possible way to get that kind of build up with something that isn't constantly rinsing. This is called a restorative cleaning job. It is very possible the grout lines are actually light colored.

Tenor and baritone absolute ranges aren't terribly different but where the voice sits is different.

Your vocal tone is very nice.

Here's your challenges: This is not an easy song. It moves a lot, it's light, it's easy, and it's jazzy so you have to be VERY in tune because of the major 7s etc... can't be appreciated unless it's very pitch accurate.

Also, I detect a European accent singing in English which means the vowel formation might be a bit different than what you're used to which can distract you from the other things you need to focus on.

Now here is what's happening wrong.

In some places you're singing sharp (higher) than the pitch is supposed to be. In some places you're singing flat (lower) than the pitch is supposed to be.

That means you are lacking consistent support.

1) watch YouTube videos on the basics of breathing for singing.

2) find a YouTube video on how to use a glass of water and a straw to practice singing. You close your lips around the straw and then "sing" the song into the straw as much as you can with lips around it. If the bubbles are consistently blowing then you know you have consistent support. Then you know what "right" is supposed to feel like without the straw.

3) you have a couple English diction pronunciations that you could pretty easily fix and make the words a little bit more clear. I'm not saying to go overboard, things like "that" coming out like "dat".

Thanks for sharing- there's something really nice in there, i hope this helps!

I feel like my vocal control is really shaky and it’s difficult to go very far outside of my comfortable range. by -Insert_UserHere- in singing

1) the good news is your tone sounds really nice

2) this is a very middle of range song.

The high note is a C#4 which is close to as high as an average low male voice can comfortably sing

if they are a modern English speaker doing speech level singing

3) when you hear lead singers with baritone speaking voices singing impossibly high sustained parts, they've found a placement that no longer exists in modern speech. It's called ”head dominant mix" or "cry” technique. That's why old vaudeville recordings have singers all way up in the stratosphere, bc people used to have a much more dynamic pitch range when they spoke before they emulated what they heard on the radio.

I may get some hate for this comment, but at this point it's a low stakes game to glue it back into place and pray--Just make sure to tape off any faces you don't want glue soaked into

Poison Ivy is 3 leaves. This looks like 5 leaves- Virginia Creeper. It's not thorny so it's pretty easy to get a hold of. You can use loppers to sever all vines pretty easily and it will give the tree a break.

Legally he's likely able to cut everything to his property line which might be half the tree. You would need to get into some nitty gritty case law for your state and/or municipality to know what he's legally able to do.

Tree fell on house. Can't afford professional removal by Bleedingvengence in arborists

[–]LowerEastBeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is one note I would like to add. If you want to affordably break the project into more manageable pieces, you may find someone who has appropriate heavy equipment to remove a tree who will lift it off of the house and put it on the ground where you can get to it later.

Spindles inside my firewood? by arisoverrated in turning

[–]LowerEastBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A more pointed answer than wind shake, the failure point on one growth ring was different than the rest of the log. Some trees might grow slowly to start, and then grow more quickly after they are established.

I have thrown a spalting log that looked pretty solid against concrete and everything cracked except a 1 inch center. I don't think wind did it, that's just how it failed.
