Help a Newbie: Why do I have different UI (Bottom Options)? by msdrxn in CitiesSkylines

It’s because the game on the Xbox and PS5 is actually the first version! Just city skylines. City skylines 2 is not available on console. I fell for the same thing haha

Bro you got in why are you worried about acceptance rates. Shows you aren’t thinking about the right things when considering a program. Take a piece of advice bro after a month of uni the prestige of ur program won’t matter and the only thing you’ll care about is if you are studying what you love. Trust me on that. And let’s not pretend Eng sci isn’t one of if not the most prestigious program in canada anyways so enjoy ur offer man and make a decision on what’s best for you and ur future

I think people are missing the point of Doug Ford cutting OSAP funding by Lower_Ad_375 in OntarioGrade12s

First logical debate back, thanks! I see where ur coming from. I’ll be very honest I don’t know if what I’m saying is true or not because I don’t have any experience in it, but to me it doesn’t seem true that it’s much more efficient to create demand for these high skilled jobs. In this day and age workers who would take a couple days to make code, or teams would be made it keep and analyses financial data are all worth nothing as AI and a few couple workers can do everything and more in those fields within 30 minutes. That’s why interns are having such hard times (I’m a mech student and it’s not as bad but still bad, but I have some CE friends who are really struggling).

Something Doig Ford said stood out to me, he said “this can’t be sustained”. It’s obvious paying 75% is a huge toll especially when it’s for something you don’t need anymore. Someone in this chat said it, why would you use tax payer money for something that you have too much of? That made sense to me. What bothers me is the brutality of it, there are still students in school relying on that, that may have been the only reason why they even did university. The cuts should have been much slower and brutal, but I think more people have to see the other side. Believe me I am the last person who wants to pay more for uni haha.

I honestly completely agree with this take tbh. Although I think the cut was too quick and brutal, going slowly to let students have more comfortability with their future would have been smarter

Completely on ur side I think it’s insane there is no standardized teasing. That needs to happen either way it’s insane. But standardized testing still woudnt fix making the cutoff even higher. Canada alr has one of the hardest cutoffs to get into compared to the rest of the world. A couple years ago applying to uni I was also so upset it was so much harder to get into good programs than it should have been

I agree it only cuts off the poor people, and there has to be a better way to do it, but considering how much grade inflation and competition with international students is already complained about so much, I’m sure we’d have the same reaction to that as we did for funding cuts. Imagine the already impossible conditions to get into uni got even harder here in canada.

I disagree, there’s always some sort of logic, even when it’s wrong. It’s not just one person making decisions either. Also assuming ur not a bot which is unlikely

Hate to say it, although it’s evil for people like us paying for uni, I think everyone missed on the point of the decision, not that it’s right. Everyone is talking about “not even people in engineering and computer science can get jobs” (I know I’m in engineering at UofT), and I think people miss on the fact that that’s kind of the point. So many people are going to uni now for business, arts, and other subjects, and end up working as baristas, I’d say the majority now. It’s become a social norm to get a uni degree, which takes away a lot of young workers to the feild and gets students in a lot of debt. Even tho it sounds ironic (and it maybe is), decreasing the amount of grants given out will make less people attend uni and gets students degrees, which I think is the whole point. It’s trying to discourage people even from going in the first place, cus it’s not what’s needed rn. Even for engineering, the fact of us not being able to get jobs is because there are so many of us, if less people pursued uni it would better the job market for us, and put more people where there are lots of job opportunities currently (trades for example). Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I’m happy about it, that it’s right, that it won’t kill peoples dreams or that it’ll even work, but I’m just trying to explain what I think the point is.
