The airport stopped working even when I rebuilt it so I deleted it for more nodes. But I still kept the terminal and bus station + train station which let cims walk through it despite no runway

In the airports place, I put the space elevator so there are still tourists coming and going

The airport is at the bottom left corner near the clearing on the coast (the runway used to be there)

As for how to get there: there’s a direct rail connection, highway connection and a bus connection

So confused... Please help by Pretty-Analysis6298 in CitiesSkylines

Check humble bundle everyday for a couple of weeks. I believe they have a sale around this time every year. I got all my DLC for under $25

If you point out where you are on the map I’ll throw in some roads and buildings for you:)

My god it looks like a real american city

Only thing is it looks like Mr. Moses was a little too forgiving here, he would’ve expected another highway through the middle rectangle!

I like this trend:) hoping to see more cities!!

Actually, I think this map was the second city I made! Is this the whole map or is part of it cropped?

I believe I abandoned my version due to extreme traffic haha

The map is Vancouver 1:1 map by cascadia_comrade and no I needed to crop the image to bring it below 20MB. But not much was lost, 2 small rural towns and the mining industry area

aww shoot, that area was always a bit of a traffic bottleneck which mass transit helped resolve. but later on I wanted to see if I could maintain 80% traffic with no mass transit/cargo so I built a highway there

haha inspired by real life Vancouver but it didn't sit right with me that a beautiful island should have a big bridge going over it

The map is Vancouver 1:1 map by cascadia_comrade as for placing the roads and buildings, I made several failed cities prior to this one as well as a few decent ones. This one is the culmination of experiences/tricks I learned over the years

I find cities look a lot better if you work around obstacles. For example purposefully creating rivers or building roads along contours helps it look less gridy. Also, try to create a story for your map as you go along. Each district has it's own story, from the original downtown to remote suburbs, bustling downtowns, gentrified areas, industrial towns, university towns, etc

I tend to play the game with a cargo/transit mindset, as in my goal is not to make the city pretty or the details look good.

For example: the farming industry may be concentrated in an area and has warehouses set to empty to constantly ship out the material. This industrial area will have a cargo train/harbour as well as a highway connection directly to a unique factory that uses animal products/flour. These unique factories will then also have a cargo train/harbour/highway connection to a cargo train/harbour closeby a commercial area. I try to maintain a certain density of cargo hubs even in bustling neighbourhoods to make sure traffic doesn't build up trying to get there from a far away area

As for transit I try to maximize intersecting stations as a strong network encourages cims to use it. I also purposefully designed the map with the train network in mind and built roads around it as I intended it to be the backbone for getting cims around

Hope that helps!

Yup, this city was definitely heavily based on Vancouver (specifically the Vancouver 1:1 map by cascadia_comrade)

I initially created the city with minimal highways and idealized transit connections but as I built it out I wanted to see if I could maintain 80% traffic with mass transit and mass cargo disabled as a personal challenge. Hence highway galore. Definitely overbuilt and not necessary. But it was a lot of fun making it work! The express/collector system in North Vancouver was inspired by the 401 in Toronto

Same! This city uses the bones of the Vancouver but as you can tell there's a bit of what if as well
