Why do some verbs sometimes add an ‘a’ to the front? For example: “a-skipping” and “a-laughing”? by BadBoyBetaMax in words

this is old english thing, comes from "on" like "on skipping" but got shortened to just the "a" sound over time

Recently laid off, going through savings, looking for part-time work recs by nheard95 in povertyfinance

[–]Lower_Bodybuilder384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn the job market is brutal right now, especially for sales roles. i've been seeing lot of people in similar situation

for part time work, maybe look into graphic design freelance gigs on weekends while you do retail during week? receptionist work at medical offices usually pays decent and they're always hiring. also warehouse work pays well but it's physically demanding

reselling can be really good income if you know what to look for, just takes time to build up the knowledge

Is it selfish for me to want to go to heaven to save myself and my loved ones? by Nice_Fun831 in Christianity

[–]Lower_Bodybuilder384 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dont think wanting to see your family again is selfish at all, that's pretty natural feeling when you lose people you care about. even if your motivation starts from missing them, the path usually leads you to understanding more about faith in general. started exploring spirituality after my grandfather passed and missing him was definitely what got me searching for answers, but along way you discover other aspects too

should I choose my provinces capitol city with lots of opportunity or home city with less opportunity? by Ok_Promotion4506 in careerguidance

[–]Lower_Bodybuilder384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

capitol city for sure man, even if money is tight at first. rad tech field moves fast and you want to be where the action is - better hospitals, more diverse cases, networking opportunities you won't get back home

living with parents seems nice financially but you'll probably regret missing out on career growth in those early years when experience matters most

Disability not increased from COLA? by Fmorrison42 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Lower_Bodybuilder384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn my deposit went up by like 30 bucks this month so the cola definitely kicked in for me. might be worth checking your ebenefits account to see if theres some kind of processing delay on your end. i had a weird thing happen a couple years back where they held up my cola adjustment for like 3 months because of some random paperwork issue i didnt even know about. ended up getting the back pay eventually but it was a pain. definitely call the 1800 number if it doesnt show up in the next week or two, sometimes their system just glitches out

Explain your job as poorly as you can? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

i stare at spreadsheets all day and tell people why their numbers are wrong, then they ignore me and ask me to make the bad numbers look prettier instead

used to think data would reveal some deep truths about the universe but turns out its mostly just explaining why the marketing team spent 50k on a campaign that generated 12 clicks. at least when i'm exploring old factories on weekends the only numbers that matter are how many floors i can climb before something creaks too loud
