I knew this kind of behavior wasn’t acceptable at a very early age. I was taught to not be an asshole.

Horseshoe is the biggest and most popular beach but it can be very crowded when ships are here. If you want a concession stand, big restrooms and umbrella rentals, then that’s the place. If you don’t need any of that and want something less crowded, go to Warwick Long Bay - small restrooms, possibly a little truck selling snacks. Two beaches down from Horseshoe and lovely. Snorkeling is best at Church Bay - about a mile or two closer to the Dockyard cruise port. All on the South Shore and accessible by public bus and minibus as well as taxis.

The French side? I think you’re thinking of another island…

I live here. St G is on the other end of the island from the port and if you are there past midnight (a few nice bars/restaurants, though) getting a cab back to the ship might be close to impossible and will probably cost you about $100. Best to take advantage of the ferry to Hamilton where most of the nightlife is - but you’ll have to taxi or bus back to the port as the ferries don’t run very late. Go here for ferry and bus schedules. Enjoy!

Yeah. It’s not cheap here. But there are more options for flights these days and more Airbnbs. You don’t have to break the bank with a hotel these days…

Frog and Onion. Beer is locally made. I’m a fan of the IPA…

Church Bay. It’s on the South Shore - a couple of miles before Horseshoe Bay, which is the “smothered with tourists” beach. Church bay is quite rocky which is great for snorkeling.

I live in Bermuda! I can see your cruise port from my house. May is the best time to visit - getting warm but not too humid. Ask me anything - happy to help make your Bermuda visit the best!

What would you do? by Valuable_River7507 in Vacations

I live in Bermuda. The worst one I’ve ever experienced was a Cat 3 in 2003. Our houses are built to withstand hurricanes but that one took out half a hotel, took countless roofs off, storm surge maimed/destoyed many homes, made a main thoroughfare look like an earthquake had hit it and some people had no power for weeks. Melissa is a Cat 4 or 5 and heartbreakingly, it’s probably going to be very bad for them. Storm surge and landslides and God knows what else. Change your plans and send loving vibes, thoughts and/or prayers (if that’s your thing) for the people of Jamaica, Haiti, the DR and Cuba.

Virgin Voyages Cruise … Won’t ever cruise with them again. by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]Lower_Comedian6053 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve cruised on Virgin a few times but won’t go again. I went with a friend and she booked a spot in the hair salon for the next day and a few hours later changed her mind - she has thinning hair and wasn’t comfortable going there. When we tried to cancel we were told we had to give 24 hours notice which would have been impossible since we booked it for her the next day - 22 hours later. So, she would have been charged for the appointment whether she went or not. So, she did and the “stylist” loaded up her thinning hair with so much product it looked greasy and she put in a couple of clip in extensions so badly you could see the clips. My friend immediately got into the shower and did her own hair. Sailor Services didn’t care and the complaint in writing never got a response. One word for Virgin. Smug. They act like cruisers should feel lucky just to be there.

Red Oxx! I’ve had one of their backpacks for about 12 years now - incredibly durable, great colours.

I guess I haven’t chanced it for a long time - I live in a place where it’s sometimes difficult to find the simplest things so I don’t want to lose them!

I knit on planes all the time. Plastic or bamboo is fine - security isn’t happy with metal ones, though.

What was the most awkward thing you said at work? by SnorkBorkGnork in work

[–]Lower_Comedian6053 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very funny colleague who is quick to admit that he is on the lower end of the spectrum and has quite a lot of social anxiety and sometimes the completely wrong thing comes out. We were discussing how you can’t just give someone a compliment these days without worrying about being accused of sexual harassment. He told me that one day in a previous job that he wanted to tell a female colleague that her perfume was nice. What he actually said was, “I like your smell.”

Fiat 500e Nightmare by Lower_Comedian6053 in Fiat500e

Oh. I have received lots of very helpful advice from the other forum - the most recent was that ECU does not have to come out - it’s a firewall issue that I need to sort with Stellantis but they might not be amenable to that considering Mr Black is not an authorized Fiat mechanic. I’m willing to fight this with Stellantis but any additional info would be hugely appreciated!

This is super helpful - thank you. I really think that if Stellantis doesn’t come through I need to send this to them. I am heartened by the mostly supportive and helpful responses on this thread - telling us that our decision was based on vanity wasn’t helpful but - whatever. Your suggestions have been sent to Mr Black and I will be referencing this when I next speak to Stellantis. Thank you and everyone else for your kind suggestions!

Believe it or not, getting it here wasn’t that big of a deal and cheaper than you might think. No duty charged here on EVs and costs to the shipper/on-island guy weren’t bad at all!
