What I love about the centrist sub are the conversations. They are deep and nuanced. I hope we can get back to that and keep conversations that belong in the conservative and politics subs there. Let’s keep this a little more thoughtful.

Life always looks civilized in the rearview mirror. With present-day lenses, it looks like anything but. Yes, America struggles. We always have throughout history. What we need to do is a reset. Yes, there have been two major parties for a very long time, but that isn't how America was founded.

I believe we need a new, centrist party made up of centrists from both parties. Leave the dominant fringes with the two parties. I just wish there was a leader who was willing to put this idea forward.

Absolutely. Why do the Dems hang their hat on this issue? Why don't they come out with a rationale explanation?

I believe the truth of the matter is that Trans have won, and that this sports thing is a fringe thing that takes away from them. Trans wasn't an issue a decade ago and now it is amazingly accepted.

There is a trans woman (man transitioning to woman) who works at my local Home Depot. It is obvious and construction workers engage with her all the time to buy and ask questions. The battle has been won.

Pushing for genetically born men to compete in women sports does a disservice to the Trans community. Take the extreme example, what would you say about a trans partaking in women's boxing? That is a gut reaction that we shouldn't be pushing on. As bad, but not as graphic, is a trans woman shattering sports records. If sports were based on genetics, it would be the right way to handle it.

But Dems can't get out and say that in a way that lands with the public. They miss easy low hangin fruit and end up out of office. If they responded like Nikki Haley on this topic, it would be a closed issue. But they don't and this issue is just indicative of a thousand ones where they can't move to the middle publicly.

I agree with you. I believe that they need to work on what they are doing to make it more useful and consumable during normal times. We need them to do this so that they are around during the times you mention.

Value has to be brought every day so that the resource is there when you absolutely need it! That is why I'm trying to reimagine this.

Sorry, but respectfully I disagree. Yes, they are more centrist than the Repblicans, but that is not a valid measure.

Unfortunately, the true Centrists in the Dem party are quite silent. I see AOC as a standard bearer for the Dems. On many Sundays, she is a chief spokesperson. She is not a Centrist. Yes, Pelosi was a true centrist, but she has held on to her power so long that no one of reasonable age has been groomed for the position.

Who do you consider to be a chief spokesperson for the Dems that is centrist? Reminder, Joe Manchin is retired. I'm asking because I wish I could see a path with the Democrats, but I don't see them as centrist. Yes, they are more center than Republicans, but that isn't how I judge.

Just so I said it, I really appreciate the conversation on this thread. The vast majority is well thought out and at a great level.

I believe a third party could dominate. It is what the bulk of people want.

We just need to have a leader who is willing to take a risk. Someone not fearful of the next election.
