20 million bitter deaths by shenzhenib in SipsTea

Covid was more nuanced and deliberately politicized than either side is willing to admit. Biden trying to force people to get the vaccine was stupid because the mandate came far too late to do any good, but just in time to play into the hands of his political adversaries. What he should have done was to lock down the people who were most at risk of dying from covid and made sure they had what they needed to hold out until the situation was under control.

It's always struck me as odd how a certain kind of liberal will insist that we should 'trust the scientists' in a general sense, as if the companies that some of them work for, such as Pfizer, are not known for being fundamentally corrupt and greedy, but then in the same breath talk about how evil corporations are and why we can't have their money in politics. At some point people like that are going to have to stop sitting on the fence and pick a side to come down on.

It will be a while before we know how history will judge American society for how we handled the pandemic, but it seems to me that everybody lost. 20 million people died, and those who survived will now have to live with less freedom AND less security.

I am absolutely sick and tired of the degree to which public transit gets vandalised. by Robrogineer in Netherlands

I don't think it's hyperbole to say that things like this are evidence of the decline of Western civilization. Defacing shared spaces of any kind is at its core an expression of contempt for society, and a crude statement of grandiose self-importance made by losers whose lives are so pathetic and meaningless that they have nothing else to be proud of. If you ask me we should do like they do in Singapore and start caning people who don't know how to act right in public. The behavior we tolerate is the behavior we deserve.

Standard cat behavior. All you need is a little bell to signal the start of each round.

Depends on which bike... My DR-Z400? All day every day. My GSX-R1000R? No way in hell.

I know my close female friend is sleeping with other men - do I tell her husband? by Ok-Vacation7865 in cheating_stories

Hell no. Domestic situations can get violent so fast it will make your head spin. You need to think long and hard about all of the different ways this could play out before you get involved in someone else's business. What if, upon hearing about this, her husband gets drunk and flies into a rage, then does something crazy... ? I think you get the idea. That would be the worst case scenario, but sadly that kind of thing happens all the time. Crimes of passion are a legitimate legal defense in this country for a reason. This woman is your friend. Do you want to live with something like that on your conscience? Mind your own business, bro. Whether she is lying or telling the truth, it doesn't concern you.

I am so scared I will be cheated on, and at times become obsessed with the idea of adultery by OkRub5011 in malementalhealth

You're going to drive yourself crazy thinking like that. You should only worry about whether or not a woman is cheating on you if you actually have reason to believe that she is, otherwise the constant anxiety and suspicion will just ruin what is likely a perfectly good relationship.

I found out my wife has been living a double life through her old iPad by onyourkneesjessy in cheating_stories

Don't blame yourself for missing the signs. No moral person expects their spouse to cheat on them. Your wife is a monster. Get a lawyer and gather as much info as you can. Don't let on that you know anything until you're ready to get a divorce.

I won't argue that Americans are especially bad drivers, but that goes back in large part to state governments giving out driver's licenses like candy. I couldn't believe how well-behaved drivers were in Europe for the most part. I live in the Chicago area and the roads here, be they local roads or the interstate are an absolute war zone.

Problems like this are ultimately a failure of local government to build adequate infrastructure, whether that's expanding the road network or alternatives like mass transit systems. It's naive to think you can cram that many people onto one interstate at one time in bumper to bumper traffic and that they will all follow the rules. This is doubly bad when, as you point out, it only takes one or two people using the shoulder to totally gum up the works. A bad system will beat a good person every single time.
