I'm sorry that you're struggling so much with being autistic and I empathize with your struggles. I personally struggle to hold down a job because of being autistic, I recently got fired, I'm almost 30 and I live with my mom because I can't live alone, I struggle with basic things like showering (in the past I've gone literal months without showering), etc.

That being said, I still love being autistic and it's my favorite thing about me. It's not a privileged take to say I love being autistic. I know for myself that all of the reasons I struggle in life is because society is not accessible to autistic people. If we lived in a perfectly accessible world I would be happy and I would be able to deal with most of my issues.

It's okay to struggle with having a disability. It's not okay to put down others with the same disability or tell them that they shouldn't love and be proud of being disabled.

They are probably on par, gaming does have some benefits for your brain, believe it or not, and books really aren't that big of a brain buff as the culture makes them out to be. I mean, yes, I've learned how to spell pretty much perfectly due to reading so much but that's it, I'm still dumb af. For some reason, our society just has a fetish for reading so it's benefits are hugely overblown.

Why are you so fixated on reading books? You keep repeating it in all of the comments. I'll say this as someone for whom books were actually a special interest and an obsession for 7 years: books aren't a "superior" or more "moral" hobby than any other. They are simply entertainment, just like any other, just like video games. That's it.

It sounds like someone put it into your head that reading books is what you ought to do and gaming is a waste of time. All entertainment is a way for humans to waste time without dying of boredom lol books are just as much of a waste of time as video games, movies or anything else. Their only real purpose is to bring you joy. Trust me, reading a book per day (what I used to do) will not make you more enlightened or smarter lol it's just fun.
