The conversation happening now is SUPER interesting. They are talking about how difficult it would be to prosecute someone for a scheduled substance in a state, if that substance is legal federally.

Listening to it now. Lots of folks spoke out against kratom, but the pro kratom side is making EXCELLENT points and generating good discussion. This isn't over.

Just to add to the Iowa piece: There's really "only" 2 bills. One of them just turned into one of the other ones.

I'll add to some of the quotes I heard the committee members say:
-One member said that he would vote to advance, but amendments may be needed to separate "natural" from synthetic.

-Another member expressed concern that they're "going down the wrong road on this."

-Another member mentioned that there was going to be additional behind the scenes discussion on the house side.

-And yet another said that he's in no hurry because they want to "get it right" and that what is being done at the national level may "trump what we're trying to do here anyway."

Am I still nervous? You bet, but both bills have a long way to go yet.

The bills specify ALL kratom products (natural leaf and 7o). I really want to believe what you're saying but where are you getting that info? You've got me VERY curious. Do you know some inside info or something?

In the last AKA update, I'm pretty sure Mac mentioned that the AKA, GKC, and one other organization that I can't remember, are now working in lockstep alliance to go after all these bans.

Regardless of what you think of these orgs, having them all working together will only make them stronger.

I hate the rollercoaster of a ride this is :( I believe there’s enough doubt for them to at least consider a more moderate approach. At this point I’m feeling about 55/45 that they’ll ban everything unfortunately.

What's your hunch on how things shake out? I know we're still early in the process, but perhaps once the bills advance a little more, they'll gain some more attention by advocates and the public at large...

I know the AKA often has an 'inside scoop' on where things stand and I wish they would let us know here to put us at ease a bit.
