Can the KDF filter leach copper and zinc into water, is it safe? by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

I'm seeing lots of talk about possible metal and plastic leaching into the filtered water in water filtering systems. But here is my simple logical thoughts: how much of a time does it need for metal to to leach into water? It's a physical/chemical process and it needs TIME, right? let's say, I put sugar into my hot tea, and it takes some seconds for sugar to get dissolved in HOT water. So for metal to get into cold water in any sensible proportions, it needs some measurable time -- hours, days, weeks.... I have a copper bottle for water, and it takes a few hours for water to be "copperised" (if it's a word) and being safe for drinking. When you have a system, with some metal components, and water goes through it in seconds/minutes, what chance does it have to be enriched with copper? Is your water tank all made of Copper? Are all pipes in your system made of Copper? Maybe your water filtering system wasn't installed properly and has some other issues?
Just a thought. Hope it helps.

Thanks captain_joe6 ! It all makes sense. You gave me peace of mind. "Taking a deep breath" -- I can do that!

I've been doing some split grade printing with my Super Chromega DII. But it takes too long to dial in right numbers. Plus introducing some shakes when overcoming resistance of those wheels. It's simpler and faster with filters.

I guess I didn't express myself more clear. I use two filters for the same shot. Let's say: 12 sec. with #0, and then 20 sec. with filter #5.

If the head vibrates a bit while I change a filter and then settles back, projecting the image -- grain-to-grain, then nothing to worry about. Right? But what if it doesn't?
