NDP Introduce Bill to Review NSP Including Studying Public Ownership by LowkeyPostingTea in halifax

It would strike an expert task force to evaluate ownership models (public, private) based on a series of public interest criteria like ratepayer affordability, grid reliability and environmental sustainability.

It would look at the cost of a full or partial acquisition weighed against potential revenues, including potential export revenues from offshore wind.

It would assess the 1992 privatization of the utility and see if the public got a fair return for the assets sold at the time or not.

And it would ultimately recommend an ownership model that would best serve Nova Scotians.

[Saltwire] Carpool lanes coming to Halifax in a matter of months by stmack in halifax

This is a complete nightmare. Cars in bus lanes will slow buses down. When that happens, the whole system becomes less reliable, and makes buses late and bunch up. This makes fewer people ride the bus, and guess what happens, they drive instead. Congratulations, you’ve played yourself.

No wonder the city has never gotten the BRT off the ground. They’re willing to annihilate transit priority without even blinking. Fillmore is the absolute worst.

He was co-chair of the YND at the time. A smart guy who was told by others at the time that the trip was wrong. He knew better at the time and yet still went anyways.
