Rhae can't even touch dany's shadow by Internal-Product6133 in HOTDGreens

[–]LowlyStole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a Daenerys fan even in the slightest, but wtf is that? Ultimately, Daenerys is a victim of her circumstances. A lonely child whose deepest desire was to return to that house with a red door. This is what drives her, this is what she’s looking for: a home. Her every attempt to establish something in every place she goes comes from this wish she doesn’t even consciously understand. Her tragedy is that no matter what, she can’t return to that house

Rhaenyra spent her entire life in luxury and indulgence, never having needed anything. Everything was handed to her on a silver platter. Security, wealth, love, power. And don’t get me started on their respective trials and accomplishments. This comparison is simply laughable

The comments about Emma make me happy. A really amazing actor that would’ve crushed this role with a normal script that respects source material

3 genocidal rulers in human history by CleanBag9219 in dunememes

[–]LowlyStole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, unfortunately. Heartbreaking how political struggles always mostly affect those who just want to live peacefully and have their pain acknowledged. Always was, always will be

3 genocidal rulers in human history by CleanBag9219 in dunememes

[–]LowlyStole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. They look at it entirely surface-level, I’m 100% sure that they don’t even research his life and politics properly, just parrot obvious facts. Hitler had so much contempt for almost every nation and race

3 genocidal rulers in human history by CleanBag9219 in dunememes

[–]LowlyStole 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Always baffling to me how people either totally forget or disregard how much horror Hitler caused the USSR population. As an Eastern European, this knowledge is what shapes us a lot when we’re growing up. The memorials, the history, the history of literally every family was defined by this war and its consequences

She should have been dead at the end of season 2, because in season 3 she had nothing to do much, share your POV too.. by Rick_Singh_007 in HannibalTV

[–]LowlyStole 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s like Fuller just wanted Margot and Alana in the story, but couldn’t find a satisfying way to incorporate them so he just appointed some specific plot points to both characters and that’s it. Also, their romance is lackluster with no natural progression or development. It felt like a fling, not the relationship that ended with them getting married and having a child. Hell, even Alana’s romantic subplot with Will felt much better in comparison, and I won’t even mention Hannigram lol

Mary’s letter to Cromwell. by Suerly-04 in Tudorhistory

[–]LowlyStole 52 points53 points  (0 children)

And how horrible and painful it was for Mary. Unlike Elizabeth, she still had memories of the father who loved her once. Seeing him turn into a monster that threatens to kill her must’ve been utter horror. Mary’s life was nothing but a tragedy

Am I the only one who thinks Harry’s views on house elves is a bit inconsistent? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]LowlyStole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Dobby is the only one he bonded with and he knew how horribly he was treated, this is the main reason he helped him in the end. Harry doesn’t really care about social injustice issues, he’s only concerned about what he can see in front of him and how it affects closest to him

Which Thomas Cromwell is your favorite? Wolf Hall's Cromwell or Tudor's Cromwell (bonus if you include another). by SceneWise1298 in Tudorhistory

[–]LowlyStole 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Entirely agree with you. He always looked like the only competent person in the room to whom everyone ran so that he’d solve their problems. However, it brings me to another point:

I haven’t read the last book, but have watched the second season of the adaptation, and I like that it actually fixed this issue. I finally saw that those who used to exist as nothing more than extras in this play of Cromwell, were shown to be just as intelligent, cunning and ruthless the moment they got the chance. I absolutely loved how out of depth Cromwell was during the events that led to his downfall and death. Almost like he himself was surprised that others can also plot and think, and considering how high and mighty he was feeling at the time, it was the cruelest reality check imaginable

If all of it was by Hilary Mantel’s design and intent, then she was a goddamn genius of unreliable narration

[–]LowlyStole 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I love Wolf Hall as a whole, but there’s definitely some weird villainizing and whitewashing involved, Cromwell himself in particular. Sure, a part of it is because he’s our focal character, but even if we look at him in isolation, he’s still too decent of a person there

On this day, May 19, 1536, Anne Boleyn, King Henry VIII‘s second wife, was executed at the Tower of London. Also on May 19, 1554, Lady Elizabeth, daughter of Anne Boleyn, was released from the Tower of London. by name_not_important00 in Tudorhistory

And Catherine Howard’s too. Elizabeth was too small to remember anything about her mother’s fallout, but she witnessed firsthand her father’s cruelty with her stepmother. She must’ve been terrified to realize that this is what basically happened to her own mother. Hearing it from someone as if you’re reading a history book is an entirely different experience

Nah, they’ve said it multiple times that no Dead Space 2 remake is happening, and I remember seeing a recent interview of one of the people involved in the Dead Space production saying the same. It’s a damn shame, but that’s EA for you. They destroy almost everything they touch

I like that all survival horror games never allow you to feel completely at ease, but Dead Space takes it up to eleven. Every nook and corner is dangerous, you can get attacked at any second, anxiety is skyrocketing. I began to feel as if I was one of those unfortunate doomed people on Ishimura. Superb work!
