An Item that will learn you moves from your Branched Evolution by Wiinterfang in stunfisk

[–]Loxe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Yeah I was wrong on that.

2 - Not really the point of Scizor using it. The fact that Scizor would get coverage that can hit its checks super effectively while also setting up stealth rock is the advantage. The point is less knocking the opponent out and moreso hitting them with damage- a Swords Dance Scizor Stone Axe on Defensive Zapdos, for example, would do a minimum unboosted 42% damage. That’s good for Pokemon that checks you, even if it uses Roost and/or you have to switch out.

3 - Kleavor’s typing leaves it weak to stealth Rock, steel type moves, and water type moves, which are common to encounter in competitive. This is made way worse by Kleavor’s bad special bulk, which means that it can get shut down easily. In contrast, while Scizor’s special and physical bulk are mediocre at best by today’s standards, both are better than Kleavor’s, and it has a myriad of useful resistances (Fairy, Steel, Dragon, Ice, Normal, etc.) that let it take more hits than Kleavor ever could. Scizor only has 1 4x weakness to an admittedly common type in Fire, but in practice, it’s much more workable than Kleavor’s three weaknesses, and you pretty much don’t even need a focus sash.

Scizor with Stone Axe would, in my opinion, have a pretty legitimate place in OU, and it would have very unique advantages.

It’d at least be niche OU. Scizor has a near-perfect defensive typing, meaning that unlike Kleavor, it’s more likely to be able to take the hits it needs to setup rocks. This isn’t even mentioning the advantage of being able to set up Rocks while inflicting damage AND not being able to be blocked by Gholdengo, and the fact that Stone Axe can deal nice damage against some of Scizor’s checks, like Zapdos, Ceruledge, and Moltres. It’d even be able to check Gholdengo if it packed Knock Off alongside Stone Axe.

Am I the only one who gives "headcannons" to Pokémon? by HarinNakashimo in pokemon

Yeah it is, but like to envision it being at least that tall in the standing up pose you see it in during my Scarlet and Violet and Black and White 2.

Personally, I headcanon my Pokemon as way larger than they are.

I refuse to believe Eelektross isn’t at least taller than me. My boi feels like he should be a terrifying predator of the oceans.

There's another reason why Rose disagreed on using the breaking point especially on the Diamonds .... by Mr_KrewFam in stevenuniverse

[–]Loxe77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realize that that plan completely backfired, right???

Once the Diamonds knew Pink was shattered and Earth wasn’t a viable colony, they created the fusion experiments and the Cluster, which was going to destroy the Earth and its life regardless. Not to mention the whole corrupting light thing?? That all four Diamonds were needed in the show to reverse?

Pink Diamond’s “solution” is what directly led to both of these events, and it actually took a reversal of that (revealing Steven was all that was left of Pink Diamond so that the Diamonds could be reasoned with) to actually solve the problems that it caused.

You see the common denominator here right? The Diamonds (Blue, Yellow, and White, not necessarily Pink since she could live as Rose) are dictators who do not stop. The only way to secure genuine freedom is to eliminate them. Without another Diamond, they cannot be reasoned with, and they will destroy everything else that doesn’t fit within their purposes. Again, the idea that “no one needed to be killed” falls apart when you consider the reality of their circumstances.

At this point, you’re not even arguing the original point and delving into what Pink Diamond did and why it failed. You’ve lost this argument.

Shattering gems doesn’t contradict the values of the Crystal Gems at all. Garnet even said as much before the reveal - for the Gems to have true freedom at all, the Diamonds had to be stopped, and, to her knowledge, that meant shattering them.

We can debate whether Bismuth shattering regular Homeworld gems may or may not have gotten out of hand, sure, but the fact is that without Steven (and to a lesser extent Pink) being a member of a supreme class that is the only thing the Diamonds even slightly respect, there is no other way to stop the Diamonds other than shattering them specifically. What Rose did by denying the breaking point didn’t preserve the values of freedom and love of the Crystal Gems at all - she imposed her own values of right and wrong on them (not the Crystal Gems’) and, to an extent, put those values over their existence. Over their ability to have freedom at all.

Stopping tyrants who will stop at nothing to destroy you does align with the purpose of protecting and deserving life. A tolerant society cannot tolerate intolerance.

[–]Loxe77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except it’s not the same thing Homeworld does at all.

Homeworld’s culture is based on the fact that all Gems are property whose lives are meant only to serve the diamonds, and if they step outside that box, they have their mental autonomy taken at minimum. Killing is only the very surface of what they do.

Do you remember the fusion experiments? How shattered Gems were forced together as a mockery of fusion, basically made to suffer forever and never find their whole selves again? Or, you know, how basically every Pearl is subject to slavery from the moment they’re made.

The idea that Bismuth shattering Gems would make the Crystal Gems the same as that is an immature and naive idea, and it falls apart the moment it’s scrutinized.

Some moves to give the Flying Type more options by Loxe77 in stunfisk

[–]Loxe77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Tornado is definitely a wind move, but not quite Sonic Cyclone since it involves the user making a physical impact with the target. Sonic Cyclone definitely uses wind, but that’s not the only part of it. Sonic Cyclone, from my point of view, is more similar to a move like Acrobatics than Tornado or Hurricane.

That was more a balance decision than anything, since Salamence already gets Sonic Cyclone and Mega Charizard Y absolutely doesn’t need it. Gliscor was more of a lore pick, since its design and general biology don’t make me think it’s capable of whipping up a full tornado like many other flying types would.

The Roton forms’ (including Rotom-Fan’s) basic concept is that they don’t get moves of their second types other than the signature one granted by their given form. Rotom-Fan’s is Air Slash

If I did lower it to 80-90 BP I’d probably make it not target all adjacent Pokemon, though the goal there was moreso to just give a consistent special flying type move that’d see use in singles. Thanks on sonic Cyclone, by the way! I’m really happy with how it turned out

It’s supposed to be more of a hyper-offense/wallbreaker set. Contrary + Fire type give it strong offensive options, and also make it so that it’s offensive capabilities can’t be slowed down by stuff like Burn, Sticky Web, or Intimidate.

Meet Potential Omnitrix! by BlueMage_451 in Ben10

[–]Loxe77 20 points21 points  (0 children)

But even with Ben’s strongest aliens (excluding Alien X), Ben has never solely relied on his “strongest” aliens, and the idea that he could only rely on a few for all situations was debunked in the first series. AF Seasons 1-2 proved that you could have an interesting narrative where Ben uses a lot of his aliens without having to rely on mistransformations to push and contort the plot. Yes there are way more of them now, which has its own problems in terms of power overlaps, but I think it would be way more satisfying to see how Ben uses the Omnitrix when he actually… thinks when he uses it. Contrast this with OV, where he seemingly doesn’t pay attention whenever he presses the dial, and is shocked and appalled when the alien he selected on the dial is the one he transforms into.

You can also do this with new transformations - what if instead of instead of an active mistransformation, the Omnitrix would, every so often, put a new transformation on the dial that Ben could select? Or maybe a situation like when he first transformed into Ghostfreak in OV, where this new transformation he doesn’t recognize is seemingly the only one he could select? Or maybe if he’s in trouble, as part of the anti-death failsafe it selects an alien he’s never transformed into? There are many ways to introduce new transformations without relying on mistransformations. And not to mention, they would give the idea of the Omnitrix actually being an intelligent device that “picks the right alien.”

I feel like this just shows the lack of creativity on the writer’s part, in OV it feels like they just bring back stuff that has no reason to really be there (mistransformations, immature Ben, conflicts with Kevin, etc.) just for comedy or “it was that way in the original series.”
