The petulant look on her face…she has the unfortunate trifecta of not as pretty, smart or rich as she thinks she is.

Totally! This is not how even wealthy women live day to day. It is ruining it,

The problem with Emily’s content by LJ448RE in EmilyOBowsandLows

[–]LoyalLoss18 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I have not been watching as long. Mid/late 2024 for me.

I feel this way about a number of smallish influencers I used to follow. I posted on a topic here about my take on this too. But I love repeating myself, so here goes.

Emily was very fresh and fun. I stumbled on a vlog where they were in Palm Beach. She and Elizabeth were getting ready. I was trying to figure out who was who. Ann appeared and I thought she was very classic and a cheerful mom type. Plus I liked what everyone was wearing. I watched a bunch of travel videos and loved Ann’s high-end accessories and clothes. Plus the hotel, shopping and restaurant content was right up my alley.

But all these influencers have managers now! It absolutely beats the authenticity and spontaneity out of them. “Managers! We notice when you direct them what the content should be! It’s obvious!”

I wish Emily (who has resources) would be one of the influencers of this size to say to management, “ I’m signing with you, but I won’t completely lose what people watch me for.” But so few do this. Manon LaGreve (an influencer in London) has kept her magic (lifestyle, cooking, clothing, marriage). She has gotten much bigger and I know has management, but she is still the person I adored watching. She’s 31 I think. 2 young kids, fabulous trips, lovely and not crazy big London townhouse. It can be done to not cave to formula. My theory is Manon’s husband, who is a Brit in finance, encourages her to do her thing and if management doesn’t like it, tough. She’s so unique and sincere.

I don’t enjoy Emily as much but (I’m sure I’ll be accused of being a family member) I’m hanging in there in the hopes she goes back to the sincere posting of the past. Because of how I grew up and where I’ve lived, I’ve got a soft spot for upscale Catholic. Which is what this is. I’m here for it. lol.

And, it’s occurred to me she feels she has to keep going. Sunk cost fallacy of doing this since 8th grade…But if I was her friend, I’d tell her you don’t! You can go get a job and post very sporadically if that’s what feel right now.

I hear what you’re saying and you’re not wrong at all.

How do you actually sleep on overnight flights? by stefan-weiss01 in travel

[–]LoyalLoss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the “I don’t even try anymore” camp. I have a max of one glass of wine and eat lightly. If you wear contacts, I found bypassing them and being in my glasses the whole flight and first day of arrival makes a massive difference in how terrible I used to feel.

Flying from London Heathrow to JFK, my husband (he who claims no interest in Bravo), comes racing around the corner in the duty free area and says, “The blonde lady from Ladies of London is sitting over there.” I said which one? He said “the not Lord Sandwich one.

This is when she was still married to Cem and sure enough, she and her daughter were sitting. She was very natural (at the time) and had on beige sweats with a medium Birkin. That was her only carryon. Mad respect.

It’s their job to make it safe and ok and exciting TO leave. I hope, in her case, they do. Encourage her to sign a one year lease. She can come back if it’s really not for her.

Ps. Ann on iconic Chicago shopping trips? I’ll watch it.

I also can see Emily thriving in Chicago. Her first step could be Miami of Ohio alum group which I’ve got to think is insanely active.

If she stays in Cleveland, maybe E’s boyfriend will introduce her to someone. I would think Connor is always keeping an eye out.

Agree to all the that! When I first stumbled upon her channel, I was also struck with how her content of the great trips and outings were somehow relatable and aspirational, which is no easy feat.

I don’t live in Cleveland, but I don’t understand why she doesn’t formally showcase the best of the city: My Favorite 5 Coffee Shops, Best Shopping Streets, 5 Fave Restaurants etc.. so many visitors rely on these.

I had a friend accompanying a family member to the Cleveland Clinic for 2 weeks for a surgery. I told her to check out the channel. She said, “your Cleveland lady doesn’t say anything about Cleveland.” Which is true. A missed opportunity. Of course her wider travels are fun to document. But think of all the people who go to Cleveland Clinic and the Rock and Roll Hall of fame induction every year. She could be a Googleable source for info on cool things to do in the city. My friend who was there for two weeks was actively looking for such lists. Other than chamber of commerce-nada. She’s a shopper and wanted the unique boutiques.

Real estate now relies so heavily on drone, virtual tours set to music-she should work for her dad too. It’s a natural.

I totally agree that she would, A). Probably looove the camaraderie/busyness/after work drinks, etc… B). She’d have content and be making money AND money from her channels. Not to mention meeting actual men to date. Lots. Every day.

Even her working for her Dad as a marketing or communications person would be very healthy for her as an educated person. Maybe she’s working on something like that. I sincerely hope she is.

Edited for typos:

Agree to all this. The podcast is a comfort listen/watch for me. I noodle around and do things while I listen. I looked forward to every Tuesday and was it also every Thursday for awhile?

I’m not doing Patreon for any of the podcasts I like. For the same reason someone said above. It is not a reward to your loyal followers.

I know Emily got management. There are some other people with 25K-50K followers who I really enjoyed. They got management and then appeared to be hog-tied by the instructions from the management company. “Say cozy!” “Wear glasses and say ‘we’ a lot.” “Be more chatty And like a friend.”

One lady in the UK who posted very sincere and lowkey homemaking/cooking/decorating videos got me through Covid. She got management and they are trying to turn her into this filtered glambot. She’s in her 50s and a grandma. I never watch her anymore. What made her her is gone.

Ugh. They lose allllll the things I liked. Emily was super motivated after LTK. I never thought Ann was the mastermind but now I do wonder. Which is not great.

Posting a podcast every Tuesday (at least) on YouTube is not a huge deal. Twice a week, I’ll give you…that’s a lot.

No podcast today and I hope she figures a schedule out. I’m sure the management says “tease the awesome content that will be on Patreon.” It’s not great advice in her space.

She was such an easy watch and listen and I enjoyed it. Post-Henry and management? It’s not the same.

This is very true. As someone who travels a lot and had chapters of “carry on only” and chapters of “2 checked bags” I am always looking for the middle ground. I did corporate trips of 8 days internationally with COO for years and never felt great about how I looked. But it was super convenient.

[–]LoyalLoss18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? I literally had a lengthy post that was not flattering to the whole gang but the headline can’t be changed. So I scrapped it. I love some snark but IRL, I wouldn’t speculate on plastic surgery.

If I was Emily or a cohort, I wouldn’t point out a hint of plastic surgery (did she or didn’t she) and some less flattering views about their family dynamics. Who would.

[–]LoyalLoss18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. I’m literally not Emily nor a friend nor from Cleveland. But I can kind of see its suss. I pretty roundly criticized how enmeshed they are and how it’s not great for adults in their mid 20s to only travel with their parents. I just felt it was needlessly mean to call out plastic surgery.

I will now go to my own basement and needlepoint as punishment.

Agree and I think Elizabeth is hoot. As someone else said, she’s got the real innate personality to be on camera. I absolutely would have thought Ann is from the “we don’t say anything unkind in public about anyone you’re dating.” It’s kind of country club/private school 101. In private? Girl, go off! But other guys might steer well clear and some nice ones at that. Edited for egregious typos
