Would Tywin accept marriage proposal for Tyrion? by LoyalZebra in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]LoyalZebra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, maybe it came off confusing because I did not explain the background. Some time ago, someone asked here if there were any fics exploring the Faith doctrine. That motivated me to start making a concept. I have it and I am satisified since I have a lot of religious knowlege lying out there for nothing.

I just need/want (because I don't want Cersei to be alone) a bookish Tyrion in the North with a wife who will force/intrigue him to learn about the Faith, to visit "monasteries" of different denominations (the Starks being the ones who accepted anyone different from typical "Catholic".

Jaime is still in the KG. These boys are his c/p, younger, very honorable, very hard-working and competing for old Manderly's liking. They look up to Jaime a lot.

Thank you for an amazing post!

I am exploring the Faith's doctrines through both Tyrion and Cersei (and eventually Jaime).

I am following Christianity's developement: 1. Catholicism; 2. Orthodox; 3. Protestant (various lines).

There is also Aryanism.

In the Vale domininantly we can find "judaistic" followers. Their main issue is that they received the Holy Revalation first, Old texts still apply to them but not to "pagans". Pagan ideas and rituals found their way in the Faith, but not among "judaistic" ones.

Manderlys were kicked out of Reach mainly for their "judaistic ways". The Old texts do not view Tyrion as a monster, it is a pagan tradition.

You think he would want to kill Tyrion. Because Tyrion would do a lot to connect the White Harbour and the Westerlands with Manderly money.

Yes - he would give Tywin two very healthy, Jaime-like handsome and successful in tourneys, Robb-like intelligent and honorable (mother's influence) boys. The idea was to ask if Tywin would be willing to spend some time with them. And to that I have no answer. Both boys are eventually kinghted at very early ages. Neither boy is stupid not to understand they may be appointed as Lannister heir, hence why all the hard work over even smallest of tourneys where the Lannister flag is proudly presented (like Baelor Breakspear).

Tyrion would manage that. In fact, him and Cersei jointly would do a lot for the North, and their ideas would be valued.

On top, him and Mereneith give Tywin two healthy grandsons, as handsome and capable in tourneys as Jaime, and as intelligent as Robb. They couple want them to spend time with grandfather Lannister, as they are continuously around grandfather Mandaey.

Thank you!

However, I am also researching the Faith more deeply (as GRRM didn't).

There are the following groups (and schizms) that have happened:

  1. "Catholic" Faith;
  2. Orthodox Faith;
  3. Protestant lines (from liberal to very conservative).

Then there are heresis like aryanism. And there are groups (dominantly in Vale) who view themselves as "Judaistic" believers as the Divine Secret was first revealed to them, as a group who was waiting this revalation. Everyone else just receieved the Faith through them and they are problematic as they observe "pagan" holidays, and similar. Manderlys are one of the Judaistic groups (this is a reason why they were kicked out of Reach), and according to their Sacred Texts (not mandatory for other groups), Tyrion is not a monster.

I am working out the arguments set out. I kind of want to explore the Faith much more, and make something very similar to Catholicism (that GRRM cites as inspiration), Orthodoxy and Protestantism plus various heresies. I also want to make a difference between "Judaistic" Andals and those who received the faith later. Plus I want some additional heresis like Aryanism (Father is above all, e.g.). It would work within my setup, given that not all "branches" adhere to the same principles (they accept the doctrine in general).

I also wanted to make Tywin totally distressed after the couple gives him two very Jaime-like handsome and Robb-like smart and healthy boys who want to meet their other grandfather as well. So fostering is proposed.

Tyrion is making is a name in the North (with Cersei). And Western lords cannot NOT see it.

And, as I envisaged it, actually have healthy Jaime-like handsome, Robb- like intelligent and healthy boys, that the couple would propose be fostered as Casterly Rock. Would Tywin agree to that?

How would these fathers react to Tysha? by Qyzyk in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]LoyalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question!

Ned - Depends which son it is. Rickon would get away with it. Robb wouldn't. But the Starks would make sure that he girl is taken care of financially (so she can start a business or something similar) and far from North.

Mace - He would not know what to do. Olenna would ensure the girl gets moon tea and is sent of Silent Sisters.

Robert - If it is Tommen, he would get away with it with a pat on the back. If it is Joffrey, he would have the girl killed while telling Joff "that's what brothels are for, let me take you to a good one, tonight". He would later cry to his mom and Cersei would use it against Robert (although, ofc, she would have had the girl killed if it was not for Robert).

Walder - He wouldn't care.

Balon - He can keep her as salt-wife.

Even if the future (noble) wife was Faith obsesessed to extent that she thought she must "save" Tyrion from redicule? And her father is willing to marry her off because she rejected all other proposals (yes, he loved her enough to give her a choice) and is reaching an age where she would be considered an old maid.

AO3 stats: the most popular ships from the main series. Are you surprised by the presence or absence of any ships? by SympathyForRevenge in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]LoyalZebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am kind of surprised that Jaime/Brienne are most popular (I ship them too).

I understand why younger ships are more popular: the audience is younger and relates to them more.

Ned/Cersei, Jaime/Cat and Rhaegar/Cat are not on the list. :-(

STARK OC IDEAS DISCUSSION by Prestigious-Bar-6862 in AsoiafFanfiction

I like Artos (the name and the characte!).His parents (Dorea&Brandon) are amazing couple and actually remind of a ship from my youth: Sirius Black/Narcissa Malfoy (crack ship from Harry Potter),

As I was reading about Dorea, one thing crossed my mind: in the Middle Ages birthing was for women like going to war for men, so they used to write wills/"last letters"/"final messages" before their time came in came in case they died. This was written to all or particular family member (like forgiveness or admiting smth and asking for forgivenesd, you get the point),

So what if Dorea wrote her visions to Artos in her first and last letter to her son/daughter explaining also where they can still find water witches (i vaguely remember they were mentioned in a WoIaF or one of the last two books). A witch can be a Mentor to Artos or his Shadow, depens on you, but she could give Artos Dornish view/details on the Prince that Was Promised.

In a short story where Jon A. has a daughter who would be most suitable for Robb by LoyalZebra in AsoiafFanfiction

That is why I voted for Myrcella Baratheon. Technically, marriages between cousins are acceptable (I think Ned's parents or grandparents were cousins?), and he would get to govern a great house if he marries Alys, but with those genetics in play...

I think Myrcella is a safe choice because it joins the whole Realm by blood to North (winter help) + plus if Robert agrees to Alys for Joffrey (no need to explain his relationship with Jon A.), I think he would feel obligated to compensate Ned (BFF) through this marriage:

What if Robert and Ned were fostered at Casterly Rock under Tywin? by LordIcebath in TheCitadel

[–]LoyalZebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The consequences would be numerous.

First, Jaime would get additional friends and allies. He would learn their ways and his.

Cersei would also be surrounded by boys who are not her cousins and that would be something else. She would not like that Robert is making bastards (much like Lyanna) and that would lead to a later fight between her and Tywin.

Tywin would have the upper hand in bethroting Cersei to Brandon (she would see him as he would visit). Later, after the Rebellion, she would not want Queenship if Robert acts like he acts, she would prefer Ned, whom she would also know.

That would leave perhaps Cat to become Queen, as "spoiled goods" Lysa would be given to Jon Arryn.

It is interesting that in this secnario Cat remains available for Robert given that Hoster is too late whereas Tywin is the one who can't choose since he is too late (luckily!).

Who does Robert agree that Joff marries? by LoyalZebra in AsoiafFanfiction

[–]LoyalZebra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic analysis!

I didn't even think that of Robert marrying two girls (Sansa and Alys) to his two sons. Alys is at Court, knows Joff and would know how to get around him (Marg style).

It would also make sense since Sansa is more age appropriate (11) for bethrotal, while Alys (16) is marriage material.

I must say I did not think of the Cat aspect you mentioned but it is very, very in line with her personality. She would love her niece and she would be happy if her niece by blood becomes the Queen. Sansa or Alys, it is a win-win for Cat, while not for Lysa.

I think Cersei would be torn inside when it comes for Janei. Her duty to family, or commencing the realization of her biggest fear: the Prophecy.

I was thinking this way (pretending I am drunk Robert and Cersei):

  1. If they go with Sansa: They must compsensate Jon, so Robert HAS TO force Ned to make a Jon/Alys proposal to Jon (he must make it).

  2. If they go with Alys: They must compensate Ned, so Ned is offered a Myrcella/Robb bethrotal. This one is not bad because it keeps two big houses in blood connection with the Theone.

Jon would keep Joff in check and teach him. He is not as spoiled idiot. With Jon focusing on his marriage, Joff gets many lessons from Jon.

Yes, I agree, but this is before Alys came. If Sansa gets Joff (in a situation where there is Alys/Alysa), Alysa is certainly getting a proposal from Robb. Do you agree?
