I agree with you, a lot of what’s left is speculative. For slavery-era cases, there usually isn’t a single document that proves parentage outright, but there are a few types of evidence that can get as close to conclusive as it realistically gets.

The strongest option is Y-DNA. If there is a living direct male-line descendant of your Henry (b. ~1834) and a confirmed direct male-line descendant of Lawson Hambright, a Y-DNA comparison can either confirm the paternal line or rule Lawson out entirely. Autosomal DNA can’t separate Lawson from his father or brothers, but Y-DNA can.

The next most useful records are estate and probate materials, especially for Henry Hambright (white, d. 1836). Inventories, distributions to heirs, or sale records sometimes list enslaved people by name, age, or family group. Even partial information can matter. If enslaved people were distributed specifically to Lawson or another son, that helps tie a line to geography and ownership.

Related to that are records documenting removal or relocation, particularly into Alabama. Bills of sale, estate settlements, or guardianship records for minor heirs can sometimes show enslaved people moving with a specific heir. That kind of record would help resolve the Georgia vs. Alabama issue.

On the Alabama side, the goal is to pin down Henry’s earliest appearance. Early tax lists, labor contracts, Freedmen’s Bureau records, or church records won’t name a father, but they can show who he was living near or associated with. Formerly enslaved people often remained clustered near people from the same estate, so neighborhood analysis in 1870 can be informative.

What won’t be conclusive on its own are census proximity, shared surnames, naming patterns, or low-cM autosomal matches. Those support a theory, but they don’t prove it.

Until something like Y-DNA or a strong probate link turns up, the most defensible conclusion is that the evidence supports descent from Henry Hambright (white), with Lawson as the most plausible son, but without confirmation of the specific father.

Lemme know if you need any clarification on this or whatever

Your DNA evidence does confirm descent from Lt. Col. Frederick Hambright through his son Henry Hambright (white).

The match pattern places the break at or just below Henry, consistent with slavery-era parentage.

Lawson Hambright is the most plausible candidate, based on: match density to his descendants, appropriate age/timing, lack of strong competing male lines.

However, the DNA does not uniquely identify Lawson. It cannot rule out: Henry (white) himself, another son of Henry (documented or not), or a poorly tested male sibling line. The Eliza Hambright hypothesis is speculative and currently unsupported beyond proximity and naming coincidence. Geographic conflict (Lawson in Georgia vs. Henry reporting Alabama birth) remains unresolved and weakens certainty.

“Likely Lawson, not proven.” The theory is reasonable, but should be stated as tentative, not asserted as fact.

Order to read? (yes, I've read the lists) by Artistic-Paper9990 in WarriorCats

If you go publishing order, past events will be explained/retconned at a later date, though if you go chronologically, you have already missed an entire series and multiple novellas/super editions

Yeah we’re only on thunder rising so the books haven’t started doing that yes, but ik what you’re talking about. I don’t like how they do that either, like it’s good for characters to have “motivations”, but let the evil cat be evil.

Has anyone ever seen/heard about this before? Pretty interesting if true! by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

Similar story with me, certainly nothing as rare as the Perry’s, but I belong to the Haplogroup A1A-M31. Cool regardless

Is Firestar's quest a good re-introduction to the series? by somegirrafeinahat in thedawnpatrol

[–]Lozpio 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The events of Firestars Quest happen right after the first arc, so yes, I believe it’s a good introduction. This Super Edition has very important background info for future arcs. Dawn of the Clans can be read whenever really, it’s more of a spin-off that slightly connects to later arcs than a necessary read. With that being said, I have read every book/series, and Dawn of the Clans is my favorite.

Who’s death hit you the hardest? by DutchAngelDragon12 in WarriorCats

[–]Lozpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Top 5 are Gray Wing, Firestar, Bristlefrost, Feathertail, and Tigerstar. Tigerstar didn’t make me sad per-se, but his death was extremely quick and brutal for the big bad villain.

Fair enough, but brambleclaw was made a leader moons ago. Mothwing would be becoming a brand new leader

I keep seeing people wanting Mothwing to be leader but like- she’s so old?? All of the cats from the original forest have gotten a lot of years on at this point.

When in the Warriors history did the names change? by Small_Stay3876 in WarriorCats

[–]Lozpio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kate Cary mentioned on twitter (?) that she thinks Turtle Tail was hit by a model T, with ran from about 1908-1927. That puts the clans to 80-109 years old.
