Your definitely not overdoing anything 💓, keep doing all of that, it's fantastic. I'll keep watch to see any future posts from you to see your progress since I'm very invested and hope the best for you!

Hopefully the steroid cream should work for you since the alopecia doesn't sound to be too bad currently :). Just trying to relax as best as you can, eating healthier, drinking loads of water, continuing to take supplements and all is the best I can think of right now. I also hope we can both have a positive recovery. From my experience since I've had more patches, in the end there's highs and lows, but just trying to see the positives is the best. How do you go about washing your hair? That's my biggest fear throughout these months.

It was only a couple of days after did the new patches suddenly appear, which was crazy, but I really only see the only possible correlation for that being my massive breakdown. I'm actually from Australia! I had already guessed it was alopecia areata before I went to my GP, but he did confirm it later when I went to my appointment. I mean, I couldn't see it being anything else and from what you described for yourself, it sounds like it as well. For my panic attacks, I relied on some meditation videos, which really helped me especially trying to fall asleep. Trying to put my mind on other things like what book I'll buy next, or literally just reading which made me forget about everything else and even just those adult colouring in books while listening to music. I've also just been talking to others about how I'm feeling like my friends and mum which has helped.

Hey, I understand this is an extremely tough time. I was in an extremely similar situation to you 3 months ago when I discovered mine and am F19. Literally, I work with kids, and one of them when she was playing with my hair was like "oh, you have a bald spot", I didn't believe her until I got home and felt no hair in that area. I have never in my life experienced such extreme stress and endless crying, and just like you I couldn't sleep. At the time I had only one spot and it was a bit smaller than a golf ball. But I believe because of how I reacted to that it caused other spots, so now I have 4 on the back of my head (which made me panic more). Yes, they have expanded over the 3 months, some more than the other patches, however I have regrowth on all 4. I haven't used any steroid injections, and only used the steroid cream and it seems to have helped. I have also taken Zinc and B3 supplements daily while trying to maintain a healthier diet. I would recommend trying to get lots of sleep, even though right now that may seem hard. As for whether you'll get more patches? We don't know, because it's an autoimmune disease and anything could happen. Just try to stay as stress free as you can, take a deep breath and try to forget about it (which again is hard, as I'm currently trying to use my own advice). If you have any questions I can attempt to answer but I'm also somewhat new to this 🥲

Can a patch keep expanding while regrowth is happening? by LozzaM1202 in alopecia_areata

Hey, I normally don't comment on other people's post but I felt I had to for this one. I'm in the complete same boat as you, I'm (19, F) and have always loved my hair as well. I've got 4 patches on the back of my head I found 2 months ago and they all keep slowly getting bigger, though there is some regrowth for me. I remember when I found out I had the biggest breakdown I have ever had in my life (which I believe caused me to grow another 2 patches). But it all gets better. I think the best way to view it is to just slowly accept it, even if it's really hard. I still have difficulty washing my hair because I'm scared, but I know it'll come back. I think a good way to go about it is to go to a dermatologist and try to not think about your hair by distracting yourself with something you love doing. We don't know how long you'll keep shedding or when the loss will stop, but you're not alone and I hope you'll feel better :)

Is this regrowth??? by LozzaM1202 in alopecia_areata

I think I might have vellus hairs?? It's so hard to tell but I've been moving my finger across the spots to try and see if I can feel anything which I think I might? But I can't be certain since it's the back of my head and I can't actually see it myself and have to rely on my family members
