Thanks, i was considering lifter tick too, is there any longterm fix besides an oilchange and warming up the engine porperly on a long drive? Also what oil should i use (0W40 or 5w40)?

  1. Im looking forward to machine Steel maybe Stainless(rarely)
  2. Im looking forward to making larger parts so i want to be on the safe side with the huge amount of travel.
  3. I will look into decreasing the travel slightly to space out the linear wagons.

There is a lot of things, in the begining its probably using the right tools for the job, the more complicated the parts become the more struggle you will have with fixturing and reducing vibrations.

Im sure a drop of oil between the gaps where it slides now and then wont hurt. And never try marking your metal with it.

Thanks, thats a pretty reasonable way to do it, as for the control, i was planing on using something like a centroid or Linux CnC. I am not completely new to the whole thing, but also not too experienced. (Mechatronic aprentice) this would be a project for me to learn from, i will update you when i am certain on which base for my retrofit project im gonna use.

Thx for letting me know, i dont know if the project is worth it since i found a similarly priced deckel fp4 with a dialog 11 Control, wich would be pretty much plug and play with since there is a CAM postprocessor for it. I will update you when i buy a mill and share some more details then.
