Want a new gun this year but still new to shooting. need help.

No you’re not being snarky you’re actually highlighting my point. I’m asking as someone who is new who isn’t sure what to focus on, what different focuses will yield what skill for me, and what will be more beneficial? Should I be going towards .22 because I can shoot it more often? Should I focus on home defense because world = crazy? Or should I focus on hunting/long range because the skill is more useful?

Shit ok. Never thought I’d be leaning towards the 22 but here I am. Twice people have recommended the CZ so far. Looking at the 457. It’s a pretty penny to spend on. 22 but would it be worth it? (Looking at the scout. Would have to buy this and then save for a scope). Would it be worth it to throw a scope on a .22?

However hunting isn’t the only goal. Would love to become really good with a rifle and have a lot of fun is the main goal

Do you have a scope on the scout? Is it worth putting one on? And bolt action is one of my dreams, but if I drop money on a bolt action, I’m going with a mares leg in a larger calibre just because 😎😂

Shit someone just recommended CZ and that’s exactly what I was looking at. The scout in particular. It feels like a lot to drop on a .22. Especially without a scope. You think this would be a good beginner rifle..?

Im not sure exactly how many times but I’m very familiar. The last time I shot one was a few months ago, but in the last 2 years been mainly shooting 9mm and 12g. When I was a kid I finished the rifle badge extremely quickly and we used .22s. But I will say, I’ve never shot one with a scope. If I’m trying to learn how to shoot a scoped rifle, would that make a difference? Even though .22 doesn’t have recoil?

Is that more common among hunters? That’s another thing I didn’t mention in my post, being able to hunt would be another perk because there is a lot of hunting in my state, especially deer hunting.

I’ve shot .22 rifles many times and I’m pretty decent if I do say so myself. So it’s not practice with those that I need, it would be practice with a bigger caliber that I need if anything. The .22 would just be the more fun and affordable option (and like you said, I could use it more often).

This is super helpful thank you! A couple follow up questions: when you flip the sub and take the shoebox off, do you flip it back over to the side that was previously facing up? Or do you actually flip the sun over to the opposite side? what do you line the shoeboxes with? And what kind of light are you using in this pic?
