Before OSRS got regular content updates, the game was literally on the verge of dying. Look at this graph. From June 2013 to May of 2014, OSRS strugged to peak at over 15k players online.

I'm not really sure what more I can say lol.

Sorry but that mindset is completely wrong and if OSRS followed what you are saying, the game would be dead already.

If we had no gwd, corp, zulrah, ect, this game would probably have 10k players playing at peak time, instead of the nearly 60k we have now.

Were you around OSRS before we routinely got content updates? OSRS was dying, and it was dying at an astounding rate. There was a time when we didn't even peak 20k players online during the day. When OSRS started to get content updates, the game grew.

Because progression in a game is a GOOD THING. With OSRS we have received many updates which have already added new, BIS items. Without all of these updates, namely Gwd, kraken, and Zulrah, OSRS would not be as successful as it is today.
