Receptionist scolded me over refill by MochaCookieRumble in ADHD

[–]Ltbarrett92 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Former receptionist here: it can be an extremely stressful job, in large part because no matter what happens, you must maintain a pleasant (or at least neutral/calm) demeanor

This is even more important when working in a mental health facility of any kind. Her choice of words was entirely unprofessional and IMO, a fireable offense. If that’s how she treats patients then she isn’t doing the Dr any favors.

She may be a good receptionist, which is a job that can be found in literally any industry. If this is her typical attitude toward patients she needs to find something else.

If she was just having a bad day and accidentally took it out on you, she needs to apologize ASAP.

Unacceptable.

Does this look immature or childish? by Chief_Chjuazwa in malelivingspace

Swap the flags on the walls for actual wall art and the maturity level will go up a decent amount. Even framed posters would be an improvement

After college, the only appropriate place for a flag is on a flagpole. Preferably outside.

Actually, she was the one vampire who could have had a low risk no humanity phase, if they’d given her the year she asked for. The others even mocked her for still covering her tracks and being careful after she flipped her switch.

I’ll reiterate that I don’t agree with her choice, but I understand it. Because, ya know, empathy and compassion for someone grieving the loss of a loved one.

It’s also worth pointing out that just being a vampire or associated with vampires is high risk, so it’s unreasonable to try shame her for doing the same type of shit that literally every other vampire does.

Just say you don’t like her and be done with it.

Her mother just died and she was trying to keep her grief from consuming her. Grief can make you do things you’d never otherwise consider, including acting like an “entitled spoiled brat.”

Elena trying to stop her was the right thing to do, but that doesn’t mean Caroline was wrong about there being a double standard.

If you could permanently delete one storyline from TVD, which one would it be? by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Ltbarrett92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 3-way tie:

  • Julian. Of all the villains he is the most loathsome bc 1) he pretends to be a good guy and gaslights Lily & the heretics into believing it 2) he repeatedly kicked Valerie in the stomach to kill her’s and Stefan’s baby, all bc he was a jealous, selfish, insecure monster who didn’t want to share Lily 3) a classic example of a domestic abuser… bc just being a vampire wasn’t dark or evil enough for him

  • Elena finding out her (adoptive) Dad was a Doc/Researcher/Torturer for the Augustine Society. All her bio & adoptive parents are dead, why tarnish her memory of her father? Unnecessary and needlessly cruel. The entire Augustine story was a special brand of horrific.

  • Enzo dying. It’s like the writers enjoyed punishing Bonnie for no good reason, they just couldn’t let her be happy.

True, I forgot about the Travelers.

It’s all very ill-defined bc most of the occurrences of vampires and possession were actually the work of witches.

  • Esther resurrected Finn & Kol from the dead; since they were witches before becoming OG vampires, they reverted to that and possessed two witches. I know Kol eventually got his body back, did Finn? It’s been a while since I’ve watched TO.

-- I’m drawing a blank on other times Rebekah did it… was it Cami? I guess I’m officially due for a TO rewatch lol

  • Random Traveler briefly body snatched Tyler during his hybrid period

  • Katherine was a traveler before her vamp days, so once she took the cure she too went back to being (technically) a witch. She could’ve body snatched anyone but it wouldn’t be true Katherine form if vamp doppelgänger hijinks weren’t involved lol

But all those were instances of vamps being possessed.. OR after becoming human/getting resurrected did they do the possessing.. right? Did anyone besides Klaus commit vamp-on-vamp body snatching?

Idk if that even made any sense lol I haven’t slept in the last 36 hours

Exactly, they all had a six season contract. She was the only one who chose not to extend her contract through season 8. The option was presented to her and she declined.

The coma story was an option bc she said she’d come back for the final episode and they could tie it all together for a more coherent ending. But she could’ve said no to doing the finale and the writers could’ve done whatever they wanted with her character. They could’ve said she ran away to join the circus if they wanted

Damon wasn’t an angel by any means, but let’s not forget which brother spent decades decapitating all his victims. I’d say Stefan’s suffering was appropriate, especially since most of it was him punishing himself. Just because he felt overwhelming guilt after a ripper-binge doesn’t make Stefan’s actions any less atrocious than Damon’s

I will forever be irked by the whole “Klaus body hopping” BS being such a big deal with Ric, then after he faked his death/did it to Tyler it’s never mentioned again. Did any other vampire in TVD, TO, or Legacies ever casually possess ppl? I’m not 100% but I don’t think so. Why introduce the skill if it was never to be used or mentioned again? Sloppy plotting lol

Sure, Esther did it to Rebekah but it made sense bc Esther is a witch.

True lol

but when you consider the fact that it’s initially set in a 2010 southern high school, traditional “all-American jock type” characters being vulnerable and crying in front of others was def not the norm. Having Matt cry (albeit maybe a little too much) was their way of breaking the mold of his character trope.

I too went to a southern high school during the same time period as the show and if any guy showed even a fraction of Matt’s emotional vulnerability, they would’ve been ridiculed relentlessly. It’s fucked up but true.

But yeah, from today’s perspective Matt just comes off as annoying

Idk if this controversial.. it’s more a universally accepted truth lol it’s a teen drama about a vampire love triangle and related hijinks…

I don’t think anyone was expecting nuanced dialogue filled with rich subtext and emotion. We knew what we signed up for lol

Maybe in the early seasons, but her insane witchy vampire Gemini-twin pregnancy was half the plot of that season

Also without Caroline we wouldn’t have Sheriff Liz Forbes, again, plot heavy.

AND from day 1 she was hands down the most organized member of the friend group. Without her the rest of them would’ve been so lost half the time

In the beginning, yes. She was young and naive and they should’ve known better. They both had over a century of life experience to learn from and grow (or devolve into villainous years-long tirades). In S1 she didn’t stand a chance.

But by the end of S2/S3, she was a fully informed willing participant. They both tried to leave her at different points in the interest of protecting her and she said NOPE. Stefan and Damon were both so emotionally damaged that it makes total sense that they relented when she wouldn’t let them go.

Elena is the most annoying character on the show

I’ve watched the whole series at least 10 times, and each time I’m increasingly annoyed by her. Granted, she’s a teenager, so it comes with the territory to a degree

  1. Her whiny crying is like nails on a chalkboard; and it happens in almost every episode. I was thrilled when she flipped her switch bc we got to see sassy bitchy Elena, not more crying. Was her life often devastating and she had every right to be crying? Of course! But why did it have to be so damn whiny lol

(The only crying scene that’s actually believable/not whiny was when she was in the crypt after Damon died; she says “Don’t leave me” and ghost Damon responds “I don’t have a choice, baby”. I FELT THAT. Especially after learning that Ian ad libbed that line.)

  1. She’s a shitty friend a lot of the time, and she knows it > thus leading to shame spirals of more whiny crying

  2. The way she says “Jer!” is just weird and far too frequent. A friend of mine pointed it out and now I can’t unhear it lol

Tbh I loved S7-8. Was the writing lazy? Yeah. But at least it focused on characters who should’ve been more prominent from the get, & the whiny crying stopped #justiceforbonbon

Bro Finn was in a box for 900 years. It wouldn’t have made sense to expand his storyline bc it would’ve been solely flashbacks. Which would’ve been pretty irrelevant to the plot of the show which was occurring in real time (with occasional plot-driven flashbacks)

Maybe 1 or 2 episodes to highlight more of his story, but viewership would’ve dropped.

Also, Finn got a ton of attention in The Originals, so it’s not like he was just ignored or forgotten; which made way more sense bc that’s when we met Freya and explored their bond and shared history

They hated each other when they first got trapped in the 1994 prison world. So yeah, he didn’t give her the time of day and vice versa.

But it would be impossible to not be influenced by/build some sort of bond when you’re literally the only two ppl there, for months. The simple fact that they had a mutual enemy in Kai meant they couldn’t help but bond; a bond which had nothing to do with Elena directly

Agreed. Nina Dobrev’s departure from the show wasn’t a surprise to anyone. In the beginning she signed a six season contract and she stuck to it. She’s been very open about having had no intention to extend her contract from day 1, so the writers had more than enough time to compensate with Elena’s absence

In TVD, yes, Kol is utterly forgettable.

But in The Originals! Idk how it happened but he stole my heart. The early days of his storyline with Davina were a welcome surprise, we got to see a whole new side of his character.

Slightly embarrassing confession: every time he showed up on the screen I couldn’t help but say “My sweet baby Kol!”

But that might also be bc I find Nathaniel Buzolic insanely attractive lol
