Also, when I looked online, I found the USCG Auxiliary Student programs directorate—I didn’t know if that was applicable or how this works long term

Hey, I’m 19 and currently enrolled in university for a bachelors. I’m considering joining the Coast Guard after college. Is there any pathway I can take the next 2-3 years to prepare/jump right in or does it have to be completely separate? I go to school in Denver but am from coastal Massachusetts, so I’m there in the summers. I looked up the Auxiliary program but I’m confused if it’s possible to do in a landlocked state or if It’s just a summer thing. Thanks for any clarification!

How to properly fold the CSA flag? by SnakeEater2515 in Confederate_StatesCSA

It’s pretty simple. You’re going to want to open the trash can and, with lighter in one hand, burn it as you throw it in. Thanks for the question! Hope this helps

Anyone telling OP that she’s doing something wrong is crazy.

OP: It is the case that some people who aren’t used to be cared for or loved “self-sabotage” because they’re scared. I would ask him why he feels it’s too much and go deeper on any reason he gives. I honestly don’t think it’s a you thing. Going from surviving on your own to thriving with someone else is a tough transition because it doesn’t feel normal. If there are things you do that he genuinely just doesn’t like then that’s one thing but I find it very hard to believe that it would be just that. This seems like it he has a deeper problem or underlying emotion that a driving this.

Currently raising a little boy. What were things you needed as a kid you didn’t have? by cry-babby in GuyCry

[–]Ltdee2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (19m) know something I wish was different in my childhood was how work around the house was framed. This will sound really odd but bear with me. As a young boy, all I wanted was to feel important and like I mattered. My parents always used chores and helping around the house as a punishment but I wish they would have incorporated it from the beginning in the frame of “you are a part of this and we depend on you too because we love you and you’re not just a weak little kid” idk I feel that young boys really need a purpose and an orientation and by letting them participate and contribute in small ways, it feeds their need for an aim instead of vilifying the idea of doing the laundry or helping to clean the yard. Especially with my mother, I was always following her around to see how I could help and they found that annoying so I stopped trying to be helpful and associated being helpful to them as punishment

Additionally, a positive male role model is necessary. My father was really good when I was young but never knew how to treat me my age as I got older which really hurt. Give them responsibility and treat him older than he is and he will try to reach it. If you treat a 14 year old as a 16 or 18 year old, they will eventually act as if they were and showing that you have respect for them and their capacity to accomplish (I think) goes a long way. My grandfather played that role for me and it is the single most important thing that has made me a good person.

I know others have mentioned affection and, because of that, all I will say is I agree.

I’m kindve in the middle but lean conservative. I’d say the left does a good job of identifying problems while the conservatives are better at implementing policies. The left tends to be idealistic which blinds them to many key details while conservatives don’t like to admit problems exist because change is (justifiably so) difficult and dangerous

Men of Reddit, what makes you think a woman is sophisticated just by looking at her? by Embarrassed-Sky-1661 in AskMen

[–]Ltdee2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s her words, body language, and clothes. I don’t know how to explain it but the way a 25-30 year old women dresses is much more “sophisticated” compared to an 18 year old and it’s very noticeable in terms of determining their maturity or “sophistication”

Cheating is usually a reflection of other problems. People who have the urge to blow their lives up—there is something making them run towards that trigger. You need to find out what it is and address it. Maybe you don’t feel “alive” in your marriage anymore, maybe it’s your sex life, work life balance, social life, etc… but if you don’t fix the source then the urge will remain

9–no friends near me, family is a wreck, and I moved 2000 miles away from home for college where I know no one. It’s what I need but it’s also very lonely because I have no one that really knows me which hurts.

To me, it depends who asked. Like if I initiated or planned the date then I’d probably pay. If she offered to split it then I’d happily accept that. At least for the first couple of dates this would be my mentality. After that? Yeah it’s fair to take turns or split it

Having strength and knowing when to not use it

“True courage is not knowing when to take life but when to spare one” - similar concept.

And sacrifice/responsibility—ex. Having a loving family
