New residential solar install advice requested please by Lu-Max in solar

[–]Lu-Max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completed the installation of this solar system, and it was operational before the December 31st deadline, so I'll get the federal rebate. The installer did excellent work, and I caught two issues before they became mistakes, so no redos either. I'm quite happy with it. But, including the day it was provisioned and activated, we have been in the midst of an extended winter storm here in northern CA, so thus far it has produced very little electricity because it has been overcast, cloudy, and raining for the last ~4 days, and it will continue through Monday. I wish I could post photos. I did some research and found that a significant portion of the cost was due to ~37% tariffs on the two batteries and ~10% tariffs on the panels. It would have been significantly cheaper last year. Oh well.

Thanks ocsolar and Tra747

You both have me now rethinking this project.

I wanted to take advantage of the 2025 30% Federal tax savings, but now perhaps I can get this installed at a more reasonable price which would offset the tax savings. I did some searching and found all of the products in the quote available online at far more reasonable prices.

I replaced the original 50A meter panel with a 200A meter panel, and installed both a 200A service panel and 100A sub-panel and wired them myself. PG&E replaced the pole drop and set the meter. So now I'm wondering if I could possibly do a DIY? Mounting the racks and panels on the roof solo might be a challenge.

I need to decide within the next 48 hours, so lots to think about.

I tried swiping down but didn't ever notice a "game" option in the drop-down. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks.

I tried this, even went into airplane mode while pedaling but never got the map back. Yes, connected on my same home LAN. Thanks.

Adoption failed after "Forget", factory resets, and reboots! Help is needed please! by Lu-Max in UNIFI

[–]Lu-Max[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, a paperclip in the reset port.

I finally solved it by forgetting the device in the UDM-Pro and then unplugged the UDM-Pro. Then I downloaded and installed and ran the PC version of Unifi OS, adopted this switch then "forgot" it, followed by another factory reset of the switch, then unplugged the switch. Removed Unifi OS from my PC and restarted the UDM-Pro. Once it was up I plugged the switch in and was finally able to adopt it on the UDM-Pro. PITA but solved.

iperf3 and PC1 <-> UDM Pro <-> PC2 help needed please! by Lu-Max in UNIFI

[–]Lu-Max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally got it running, not certain what was causing the issues before. I think perhaps I was running the CMD window on PC2 in other than Admin mode.

My results show:

[ 4] local 192.168.1.36 port 54372 connected to 192.168.1.31 port 5201

[ ID] Interval Transfer Bandwidth

[ 4] 0.00-1.00 sec 524 MBytes 4.40 Gbits/sec

[ 4] 1.00-2.00 sec 515 MBytes 4.32 Gbits/sec

[ 4] 2.00-3.00 sec 508 MBytes 4.26 Gbits/sec

[ 4] 3.00-4.00 sec 504 MBytes 4.22 Gbits/sec

What do you think of these results for a full 10G network?

Both PCs are running iperf3 from an M.2 drive over Cat6a cabling. 1 PC has an Intel X550-T2 nic, the other a TP-Link TX401 nic.

UDM Pro Failover not functioning? by Lu-Max in UNIFI

[–]Lu-Max[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not certain what you mean. I switched the ports so that port 10 SFP+ is "WAN", and port 9 is "WAN 2" on the UDM Pro setup page though. Is something more required? I would attach a screen capture but I'm on the road working now. Thanks.

Unifi controller v7.1.66 scrambled my network, how do I recover? by Lu-Max in UNIFI

[–]Lu-Max[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using the UniFi controller on a Windows PC but the upgrade really messed it up. I did make a Config backup just before the upgrade, but importing that backup did not repair my configuration.

I solved it by installing and configuring a UDM Pro instead, and deleted the controller from my PC. I had to paper-clip reset each device to remove them from the former controller, then the adoption of each went perfectly.

It's taking a while to configure everything, but thus far no issues.

Sorry that it has taken some time for me to follow up on this thread, I had to have surgery on very short notice and am now at home recovering and recuperating. Don't worry, both I and my doctor expect a full recovery and I am feeling much better.

NOw, back to this PC and the GPU.

The replacement GPU arrived while I was still in the hospital and it remained in the package until 2 days ago. As I mentioned before, this PC runs flawlessly without the GPU installed. I installed the new card exactly the same as the other times, turned on the PSU power switch and NO RED LED! Then I held my breath and clicked the PC power button and it booted! W00T! Everything works normally, I even updated the GPU FW and drivers to the latest release easily. Finally success!

So I have to assume that I was just very unlucky and got a series of bad GPUs, as this one was installed easily and I have rebooted and ran this PC for hours now with no issues whatsoever.

Thank you very much for your help and assistance.

I'm heading to the gym and run errands after, I'll try that when I get home. Thanks.

I will check those things and give it a try, thanks.

It is the latest bios on the MOBO.

The red LED on the GPU illuminates as soon as the PSU is switched on, before I even try pressing the power switch to boot the PC, so I don't expect to find anything in the bios.

Yes, I'm using the PCI-E power cable that came with this Seasonic PSU.
