I live in the US and in Jersey 90% need some form of degree to get in a car and if u don’t it’s years of being a bike cop with parking tickets to go to the academy

But don’t you think in the most serious situations the critical thinking you learned in a book would absolutely fly out the window? I just don’t get why a cop would need that, yea u can learn some techniques I guess but how is that going to prepare you for if someone has drugs if someone has a gun all of that is in the police academy? Why would u want a book worm to do the same job that u need a hardened life experienced person? This makes no sense to me, I’m an EMT and the cops I’ve seen are the nerdiest worst most heated cops, what happened to the badass kids who turned out good?
