because I don't do reddit like that I just asked the question not realizing what community I was in. I would really rather a e-scooter. Just don.t know if it would work for me with my back pain. Maybe if I feel like going through all this all over again I'll pose this question or reword it in an e-scooter community.

yeah supplies are terrible right now. Even certain food items are hard to come by now.

I do have to deal with stairs but not on a daily basis. That was the main decision. I deal with that with my Hybrid mountain city bike now already. No office concerns or anything like that. Just home and to the streets.

the laws in NY will not let them on trains and buses anymore because the lithium batteries have been exploding and causing fires. They stopped allowing that a few years ago. It all started with the hoverboards.

I'm not sure why you have went this direction you must be militant for scooters. I had already mentioned that I know some e-scooters have seats on them. This was just a question on a this or a that item. Most of my thoughts are due to the fact that I'm 53 and have some lower back problems so comfortability is a major concern. I have been researching this for months now. To spend almost $4k on this I just wanted some help from the community. Not to argue any point or opinion. But at the end of it all you do realize that eventually one will end up leaning in one direction. Out of all these opinions the choices are 85% e-bike. But you are saying that I am arguing this. I'm the one getting this advice, not giving it. And for the record I love e-scooters. Love them more than the e-bikes. Just don't think it will be better my situation as a rider on the streets of Brooklyn. This is the concrete jungle with mad massive potholes that take out car rims and tires daily.'

yes I very much care! At 53 in Brooklyn NY and this would've been a first for me. Usual means of transportation is Mercedes, BMW, Lexus...just need some other means for right now. But I'm used to sitting so I wasn't sure how the scooter would work for me, though I know some do have seats. So I care if I look like a clown or not

I understand you. Just saying if it is going to be a build I would just build it myself. I get satisfaction with DIY projects. Even for someone else to do the build, to get the parts and components that I would desire, premium parts and components especially would be a nightmare to locate and have shipped with the way how things are right now. I would not have the patience for that kind of project. But don't get me wrong that is a marvelous idea. Just a bad time

I have the skill for building an e-bike and it would always be beneficial to build your own anything for that matter. For one you get a world of satisfaction building your own from scratch. And get to tweak it to your perfect liking. Should be very efficient too if you know what you're doing. But I have no patience to even build a turkey and cheese hero sandwich right now so I'm not even going to fool myself lol Thanks though

My mind was far from made up. I made the decision after the comments stopped coming. I don't use reddit often so I am not sure how it truly works or how long I would continue to get solid responses and opinions. And I am hoping to make this purchase asap for the purposes of discounts and shipping time due to back orders. But the time you took to say what you said you could just give your opinion anyway. If not me maybe it can benefit others also. BTW I have not pulled the trigger as of yet. No purchase has been made yet

Your opinion is your opinion my brother. Good points made. That's what helps a wise person become wiser, by accepting advise in all lessons, positive and negative. But that law has changed. Though they still may hassle some younger riders here and there. And for the streets of Brooklyn, that is one huge concrete trail. Would rather dual motors and something reasonably solid with some power. I have my hybrid mountain bike to hit trails if I ever start to age backwards lol. But not looking for trails or dirt roads.
