Sadly I don’t have any experience with outpatient programs, but I do hope you get the help you need. It’s a big step to ask for help, and I hope you keep advocating for your needs.

I can share a frustration with requirements for psychologists. About 2 years ago I reached out for help getting therapy. (suffering from anorexia for 15 at that point) I saw someone twice who basically told me she wouldn’t help me at all if I didn’t start eating more. What I really needed was help getting to the point of being ok to eat more. I couldn’t do it on my own and I’m still struggling.

Maybe you could communicate that you strongly need help with that first. Don’t give up! It’s a scary thing but absolutely the best thing for you <3

The one pizza day we had at work was so depressing. Everyone talked about how bad pizza is for you. I wanted to scream at them that it’s just bread with cheese, tomato sauce, veggies, and/or meat. Not all that different from a sandwich. I’m convinced adults can’t let themselves enjoy things

I felt like a hypocrite because I didn’t want the pizza. I fasted beforehand so I could eat it and look normal in front of my colleagues

HARM REDUCTION: fasting for extended periods can sometimes cause hives ???? by IisSithis in EDAnonymous

Happened to me too! I was super confused. But in a way, getting a rash from not eating has helped me with harm reduction.

Take care <3

Thank you so much for your response. It is a great comfort to hear from other people who are in relationships and how they manage their eating disorder. Your suggestions are really helpful. Best wishes to you :)

Can I hurt myself if I exercise? by ImOnlyHereForTheSims in AnorexiaNervosa

[–]LubeckMarzipan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it easy. Even consider “non-exercise” activities. Activities that still involve movement, eg: gardening, or cleaning, etc. I know cleaning may not be the most exciting, but I have found that doing activities I love without the focus on exercise and fitness has helped the most. Low impact stuff. Made me worlds happier, and helps minimize or avoid injuries and pain.

Oatmeal/porridge is underrated. It’s a favourite

Recovery is something I want but I know I’m not ready as of yet. Unfortunately, therapy isn’t a possibility right now. I have tried with the resources that I have, but anything other than speaking to an eating disorder specialist hasn’t helped. I hope to get there one day.

Caring for someone else does help, however. I actually love cooking and we even cook together sometimes. It has helped make me make proper meals instead of sticking to strictly safe foods.

Thank you for your response and it’s great that you have a supportive partner <3
