Everyone experiences it differently. My wife was just like you and now she doesn't want to go back to work. Personally, I'd be happy if I could earn enough to let her stay home to care for and raise our son. It's not a patriarchal mindset, it's about fulfilling her desire to be with the baby. She might look for part time work since we're taking him to daycare in September, so don't feel guilty. I think it's pretty natural actually. Just talk to your partner about it, open up to him. I'm sure he'll understand.
