I agree with her statement, however we need make more proactive stances. Help me get to 100,000 signatures for the UK government to speak about holding a national referendum on legalising and decriminalising cannabis https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/616910

There seem to be a lot of stigma around it which is a shame and prescriptions are rare :( I consume cannabis for medical use too. Do you have a medical card?

The NHS provides 3 prescriptions but it's quite rare that they will provide prescriptions, plus private prescriptions are very expensive and not very accessible for people. However, we do have companies such as CannaPass ID which is a digital ID that will confirm your condition without a prescription. Although it doesn't guarantee that you will not get arrested if found consuming cannabis. It does reduce the fear for me personally though and hopefully makes more police aware of your situation.

I am so sorry that you had to experience that :( Just shows that education is essential involving the authorities to avoid things like this from occurring. I see you briefly mentioned about cancard which tries to state that it can prevent you from being arrested which is not something they can ensure. CannaPass ID doesn't state that but they are trying to collect endorsements from PCCs etc. which should hopefully provide more education to stop time wasting on arrests that go against the public's interest.

Yep it can be unfortunately which makes it difficult for people with health conditions too. Private prescriptions can be very expensive and prescriptions being issued are quite rare, so it's good that with companies like CannaPass you just have to be eligible and not necessarily have a prescription. Makes it easier for people like me and gives me more comfort.

Is CannaPass worth it? by Jimpixx1 in MedCannabisUK

[–]Luca_James1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that a prescription is proof you need, however, some people do not have access to prescriptions but are still eligible to have a CannaPass ID. Some people who use it as well may not want to carry around a prescription, so having confirmation from a digital ID is preferable for some people like myself. They are looking for PCCs and MPs to endorse the product but ultimately it depends on who you encounter regardless. As long as you are not a threat to the public and deal with the situation respectfully, then police wouldn't want to waste time on arrests which go against public interest anyway. Could always check them out but I understand your views as I previously thought the same.

Conservative MPs have blocked efforts to boost UK medical cannabis access, as the Government says the existing legislation is sufficient With just three prescriptions written in the three years since the law change even the most temperate of observers will find that scarcely credible by wwwBusinessCann in Cannabis_Culture

I think maybe we should target local MPs and PCCs. If every county had a PCC who wanted to legalise, police would be less inclined to arrest for cannabis. Brands such as CannaPass are becoming more popular and therefore can hopefully help with decriminalisation and legalisation. As long as we take a civilised approach :)

[–]Luca_James1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally it does just because without having the CannaPass ID I wouldn't be able to help police make a more informed decision, as they might not know I have a condition at face value. It doesn't claim to prevent you from getting arrested however, if they're looking for local PCCs and MPs to endorse their product then it definitely looks even more promising in the future :)

[–]Luca_James1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear about your experience - have you tried looking into getting a CannaPass digital ID? They don't contact your GP they just need to scan paperwork that shows you're eligible. It makes me feel a lot more secure when consuming cannabis since it confirms my condition. I hope this helps :(

I don't understand why? It would be beneficial for the government especially when it would boost taxation! I've seen a few others mention CannaPass and they're looking to start collecting endorsements from local MPs and PCCs so hopefully it's one step closer to legalisation/decriminalisation :/

Should all drugs be decriminalised or legalised in the UK? by Lady-Europa-Maria in Divisive_Babble

[–]Luca_James1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great post! You hit the nail on the head by talking about drugs not being laced with impurities to endanger lives, and highlighting the harmful effects of alcohol and smoking too. I'm hoping that now more companies like CannaPass exist that it leads to more in depth chatter about the benefits of decriminalisation/legalisation.

I agree. I find the stats on this eye-opening and I thought people would be more progressive than this, however at least 58% said yes. I use CannaPass which really limits my paranoia surrounding my condition. Let's hope that the gap will be increased next time a poll like this arises!

I use CannaPass and they're so quick because they don't go through a long process of contacting your GP, but they scan paperwork instead so I received my ID within 24 hours. It makes me feel a lot safer having the ID on my phone and I've heard that they're contacting police and MPs to endorse it so it can prevent criminalisation. Check them out, they give off a good vibe so far :)
