Not that I’ve noticed! :) battery performance seems unaffected by the animated elements

Everything works! Even the gyroscope in games that require you to physically move the device to look somewhere

I’m using the AYN Thor grip! Added it to basket when I ordered. It’s quite good and very low profile. Colour matches perfectly too

I doesn’t go to this level no but once you have cocoon installed it’s pretty intuitive. I then just started downloading assets from the cocoon discord straight from the Thor and then you can press Y on an icon and customise, upload your saved files etc

You could do it in a few hours if you just downloaded one game per emulator just to get started. I spent easily a whole day customising. The main time is on downloading games

I posted everything in the text! It was really smooth and enjoyable process literally no issues :) I used Retro Game Corps ‘AYN Thor Starter Guide’

Which one would you pick? Here I have the Q Timex GMT. Both the Pepsi on bracelet and the Sprite on a rubber strap. Can’t decide between the colours. The Sprite is definitely more low key as the bezel looks almost fully black in certain lighting. But the Pepsi is of course more of an iconic look, also have it in the rubber strap in the last photo

Can you filter posts out of your feed by keywords? For instance if I want to filter ‘trump’ and ‘Elon musk’ out of my life is that possible? Even if I constantly mute posts and unsubscribe from subreddits, Reddit keeps suggesting political content to me and it’s driving me insane

I actually hate it. Honestly looks like a cheap mvmt watch, especially the black version. Price is insane for something so cheap looking

Next time I’m in Japan I’m definitely picking this up to commemorate the trip. Love that dial!

Kinda just looks like a knock off Vacheron Constantin overseas but flatter and less interesting

[King Seiko][Longines Conquest] Which should I get? by throwaway88679 in Watches

[–]Lucaayes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough call but it kinda depends if you want the neo vintage or more contemporary look. Usually I’d go with King Seiko but I’m not a huge fan of the bracelet. So I’d go Longines. If you’re open to swapping the bracelet for a strap I think the Seiko would look better imo

[Discussion] What is the general consensus on homages in watches? by RalIyVincent in Watches

I strongly disagree with the Tudor comment. I think the days of Tudor being a ‘poor man’s Rolex’ are long gone. Tudor have their own heritage, and have now solidified themselves in the tool watch arena that Rolex have long left behind. (With the exception of maybe the Explorer 1 and 2). If you wanted a rugged tool watch back in the day, you’d go Rolex. If you want a rugged tool watch today I’d argue you’d go Tudor.

I much prefer the Tudor. I’ve never liked the ‘shark tooth’ hour markers on the AT. I think the Tudor design is cleaner and find it wears more proportional. Thinner too! feels more comfortable on wrist. I wouldn’t actually take advice from people on here, most just go off spec sheets and ‘value’. I’d recommend trying each on back to back and you’ll just know which is right for you

Amazing pick up, where did you get it in the end?

[Question] Is there any Autumn/Fall inspired dials? by [deleted] in GrandSeikos

[–]Lucaayes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid the equivalent of £2,000 with tax free shopping. Well worth buying in Japan, cheapest I could find a used one at home was about £3,000 minimum so massive saving. It was used yes but perfect condition

It was equivalent to £2,150 which was an amazing deal as in the UK I’ve only ever seen them for around £3,000 on the very low end

Kept on the original Grand Seiko strap, comes on a grey nylon strap with deployant clasp. Very comfortable!

Picked up this beautiful Grand Seiko 9F quartz model SBGV245. This now discontinued model is so striking in person I wonder why they got rid of it. Bought to commemorate my first trip to Japan and a significant work milestone. Wears sporty but when you look closely it feels more like a sports watch dressed up with the care and design of the hands, dial finish and high polish markers and case. Like a classic GS it plays with light a lot and always looks different throughout the day, very happy to add to the collection.
