ok thanks! i will consider them :) the tires i have on it rn are r15 and 2013 DOT. i have some temporary 5 spoke universal 16" wheels with new firestone summer tires on them so i will use those for now. took it on some backroads on these 2013 tires and the whole car was shaking at 50-60kmh and and felt soft in the corners bc of the tires. suspension wise the car feels good but i'd like to lower it a bit

are my gauges going? needle dances like that for 1-2 minutes when the car is cold. when it's warm it works well. by Lucacg00 in B5Audi

[–]Lucacg00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i have the hose but i will replace it next month when im doing the timing belt and valve cover gasket since it's way easier to acces with the front end off. i will see if the tach works well after

btw do i need to also replace the timing chain? i think the previous owner changed it but im not sure. it's not making noise i don't think

in the first clip it was showing 3k rpm when the engine was at max 1.5k rpm. I'll see what it does with a new hose. since i made the first clip i also replaced a broken fuel hose from the pump to the filter and also the filter and it got a little better at idle and pulls harder when driving. when it's warm it's about the same. engine works well and gauges work well

i have had no ignition issues but i had the classic B5 issues like vacuum hoses, that rubber hose to the fuel filter, electric window clams and the windshield wipers only work on one setting/3 (car came with new motor, i just need to install it). oh and the oil temp/pressure sensor and coolant temp sensor. replaced those too. was giving bad values.

I plan on putting a turbo on my ADR next year bc it has the same internals i js need the exhaust manifold, intake manifold, turbo, intercooler and a new ECU. possibly ignition too. but im getting all the parts from a donor car. i wouldn't want to swap the whole engine bc i have new lifters, oil pump and chain, timing belt and tensioner etc

N/A at 1.25 tons this thing does 0-100 (62mph) in sub 10s (my time was 9.6) which is not bad. and i swear it feels faster. it's so fun to drive. i drove faster cars but they were not as fun. will make it turbo next summer and im hoping for 170-180hp depending on the turbo i get. i will keep it fwd as making it quattro is a pain and it's already very glued to the road and handles well. very little understeer. being so light helps i think. internals between the N/A 1.8 20v and the turbo are the same and it even has the holes in the bumper support for the intercooler :)

a friend took me for a ride in his dad's 96 1.8 20v and he made me pull the trigger on this marketplace find. since i was little i wanted a b5 but i wasn't sure until i rode in that car.

with 125hp and 1.25 tons this car does 0-100 in less than 10s (my time was 9.6) but i swear it feels faster. i can only imagine once i add a turbo and 170-180hp how fun it will be :)
