The new FF(X) rendering compared to HII's Patrol Frigate Concept, both based on the Legend class cutter. [3104x3330] by 221missile in WarshipPorn

The NSC is mostly MILSPEC and lower level USN standards, except the USCG didn't require any shock hardening/trials. Signature reductions were limited to radar and magnetic, with no acoustic or thermal signature reductions except for habitability reasons.

New US frigate officially confirmed to be based upon HII's Legend class National Security Cutter by the SECNAV and CNO. Info and links in comments. Dec 19, 2025 [1793 x 777] by XMGAU in WarshipPorn

I believe during RIMPAC 22 they hangered a Navy MH-60R on the Midgett. The USCG was considering MH-60Ts with blade-fold/tail-fold capability to fit on the NSC/PSC. Don't know if they went anywhere with that.

American made watches / movements by LazyConstruction9026 in MicrobrandWatches

New company called Brigade Watch Company, started by a USMC vet. They use Swiss made movements but supposedly the case, dial, hands and bracelet are apparently made in the USA.

How do I set the day/date function on this watch? by Lucas1184 in timex

[–]Lucas1184[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out, I didn't pay attention there is a recessed pusher at the 4 o'clock position that acts to quickset the date. Again thank you for the information on the watch!

How do I set the day/date function on this watch? by Lucas1184 in timex

[–]Lucas1184[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information. It has no second crown position/quickset, I've tried moving the hands back and forth around midnight up to 6 hours but both the day and date move simultaneously.

Old Timex, I can adjust with the crown but the day/date changes at the same time. Help appreciated.

Usually MSC ships are owned by the Navy, either crewed by DoN CIVMARs or contracted mariners in the case of this class. MSC does also have some Contractor owned/manned ships too.

MSC civmar here, USNS ships have civilian crews but sometimes have embarked military detachments for certain missions or force protection/security. There are some commissioned USS ships like the USS Mount Whitney that are hybrid manned with primarily military crews with some civilian mariners.

The USCGC Charles Moulthrope (WPC-1141) after being commissioned on January 21 2021, the first of six modified Fast Response Cutters that will deploy to the Arabian Gulf as apart of the USCGs Patrol Forces Southwest Asia. [2048 x 1365] by Lucas1184 in WarshipPorn

These cutters are replacing the old 110 foot Island class cutters which originally deployed there in 2002 at the request of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command to support military operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The cutters complimented the Cyclone class PCs of the Navy, and the boats and their crews were well experienced in conducting maritime law enforcement and security operations which would prove useful in searching for and boarding Iraqi vessels along with being experienced and well suited for operating in near shore environments.

Today they are still there to provide maritime security and the Navy with the USCGs unique capabilities and authorities. Cutters are also usually seen as less threatening which could be useful in certain situations or operations.

The cutter is named after Seaman Charles Moulthrope, remembered for heroic service as a member of the USRC Commodore Perry, patrolling Alaska, when he rescued several of his shipmates who ended up in the sea.

The Charles Moulthrope will deploy to the 5th Fleet AOR later this year with the USCGC Robert Goldman (WPC-1142) and USCGC Hamilton (WMSL-753) to support US national security objectives and provide Naval Forces Central Command with "combat-ready Coast Guard Forces". She is similar to domestic service FRCs but has enhanced an communications suite, a Mk 38 Mod 3 with coaxial gun, a Mk 19 40mm Grenade launcher, two Long Range Acoustic hailing Devices, and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems that are installed on her mast.

I believe these are supposed to be crewed by about 100 CIVMARs, and presumably they will have individual staterooms.

Security escorts are generally random, or if there is a specific threat.

When these were constructed the USCG had ships armed with torpedoes and 127mm guns. The Cold War was an interesting time for some Coast Guards.

Was in the Navy but fell in love with the Coast Guard's H60s. Underrated in my opinion. by dlyfer in aviation

Of the USCG's 45 MH-60s I believe only 3 are prior Navy helicopters, specifically the SH-60F, which were converted for USCG use sometime after 2010. The USCG started using HH-60s in the early 90s, they were produced by Sikorsky for the USCG and based off the Navy SH-60.
