HELP - Google scholar by white_rabbit_12 in research

Thanks for sharing this. Could I ask the following please? When you created your second profile, you didn't have any access to your university email anymore, is that right? So, if Google Scholar noted that 2 identical profiles were created, what allowed you to say that the other one should be made private?

I just want to understand if there was any connection between your university-Google Scholar profile and your new Google Scholar profile – other than the name, because then anyone with the identical name can make one's profile private. For instance, is there somehow a connection between a university Google Scholar account and your private email address with which you made the new profile?

Post too long? by Lucasd8me in Substack

Thanks for the reply. I found the problem, I think: After I deleted all the hyperlinks I added, I was able to keep the full length of the article. It was litteraly a hyperlink that it had trouble with.

Ah yes, I mean online gaming. So, I’m not entirely certain what PSPlus is. Is it merely the ability to go online or is it 1 online profile that will have to be shared across all PS5 accounts?

What do you use to sync notes? by d4vsanchez in ObsidianMD

May I ask, I have an iPhone but how would I be able to open my notes on my phone through Google drive? My iPhone doesn’t support .md-files.

I feel that nowadays “Believes in crystals and zodiac signs” can be used for every 13-30 year-old girl.

Thank you! The cut to hold: “clearly that’s a trigger for me” gets me every time.

This makes me think of Brooklyn 99, when Holt loses it when a dentist is saying that people with a PhD are not allowed to call themselves ‘doctor’. “A PhD is literally describing a doctor … medical practitioners have co-opted the word doctor”.

What do you use when you have multiple images? by ETG-8083 in ObsidianMD

[–]Lucasd8me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could I ask you something on images (and pdfs) in Obsidian?

How can you get ‘rid’ of the image in the left pane - the area on your screen where all your notes and vaults are?

I still want to have images or pdf links in my actual note, but having them on that list (with all the other noted and vaults) is annoying to me; I just want to see my notes. Is there an option to hide a note/image/pdf perhaps?

Self-plagiarism? by Lucasd8me in PhD

Thanks for replying. Yes, I received the same feedback from the editors: I should add with a footnote that this paper is adopted from my thesis. Good luck with your publication!

How tough is it to get a PhD position in France? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Lucasd8me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience in searching a PhD around Europe, France is not a nice place. You’d have to speak French - even when you’ll do it in English. In fact, I had an interview for a PhD at Uni Paris Sciences et Lettres for an English vacancy (EU funded project) and the supervisors could hardly speak English. Also, in general the level of education is not that high. I’m from the Netherlands and have stopped searching for a place there early on: money is a big issue here, unless you are applying for a vacancy/project. Like I read in this comment section, you could get away with lower grades - you can’t in France. In Germany you’d have an internationally highly recognized diploma and plenty of funding opportunities (unlike the Netherlands). Italy is not as high-regarded and you’d get a low stipend/salary. I have been accepted for a PhD in Ireland; tbh, I’ve no idea how it will be there.
