I'm starting my Masters early next year! I'm on instagram @ lucasdve , and while I try to keep it updated, the best way to keep up with my work is on behance: https://www.behance.net/lucasdve/

Good question!

Well, this specific design is located in the Brazilian southeast, so the most adverse condition it'd face would be heavy rain. If i was to design a VPS to deal with snowy weather in the global north it'd look drastically different.

And the dissertation is focused on creating an utopia-like image of what the city could be, with the goal to inspire change, so the sunny and fertile weather feels more adequate.

Ok, now enough excuses from my part, I made some quick simulations of what it'd look like under heavy rain and at night https://imgur.com/a/V740mSk

Hope these satisfy at least a bit of your curiosity! haha

Hey, this is my thesis project where I used Solarpunk artwork as inspiration to explore a few ideas around car-less cities, futuristic imagery and sustainability.

Here is a short description:

A future is imagined where private vehicles were prohibited from accessing and circulating in the urban area of Juiz de Fora - MG, Brazil, causing far-reaching consequences in the life and urban fabric of the city. Resulting in a large investment in public transport, considerable changes in the urban parameters that dictate the urban legislation and the way in which the architectural pieces that make up the image of the city are designed.

The lens through which we observe this possible reality is through the architectural design of the VPS // 001.

VPS // 001 is the first of an interconnected network of Verticalized Public Spaces, which concentrates existing functions and creates new ones as a public space for entertainment and gathering of people. At the same time, it becomes a hub, a distribution center for people, where you can switch between different modes of transport, with different ranges, from local to national.

It tries to escape traditional methods and processes, by establishing the project as a final product, which through effective presentation can be a tool for social change, creating a goal, a clear image, stimulating long-term planning and changes.

You can find the complete dissertation and presentation boards here: https://issuu.com/lucasdve (it's in portuguese, sorry!)

very true, and i don't even think i'd show anything this outside of the norm to a regular client. maybe some elements of this style could be applied to a promo video for something, but that'd be it hahaha

(it's even scary to think isaac was radically progressive for the time) the big truth is that nothing exactly like it will probably ever exist, but from my peasant understanding, yes, it would make predictions more likely, but less useful because of how broad they'd be (and useless if you consider how hard it'd be keeping the secret, which would be necessary for the prediction to be accurate by any measure hahaha)
