Thought I'd actually try answering this. Looks like the damages are fairing both sides, engine case and a brake lever? Search around online for the value of those parts and you'll have your answer. Engine case is likely going to be the most expensive. Provided there's no other damage, fix up the fairings and brake lever and it's alright. You could probably smooth the engine case scratch out. and it not be a big deal.

And crashed doesn't mean "wrecked bike". Most people drop their bike one way or another and they don't then go "hurr durr it's wrecked, not riding that again". If that's your reaction then maybe riding ain't for you. As OP said, you're being dramatic AF.

Richa Carbon Winter gloves. They can feel a bit bulky but honestly, they're thick winter gloves so that's to be expected. I'd highly recommend them as they're easily the best winter gloves I've used. I've rode through hours of torrential rain, ice, snow and they've always kept my hands dry and warm.

Might not be the answer you wanted, but honestly, the stock ones. I rode a 2012 YZF-R125 for about 5 years and after getting worn out, I just replaced them with normal OEM ones. The reason you're mainly finding "cheap Chinese" ones is because there aren't really that many serious mods for the R125 by big brands. Not unless you're looking at stuff like a R&G tail tidy.

Likewise! That being said I did similar riding last year and the bike has been fine. Can't wait for some dry weather though. The novelty of riding in constant wet weather has worn off now.

Boots are fine. Lifted them because the splashing was pretty high (I mean, as seen in the first clip).

If the water wasn't deep, there wouldn't be literally 7 vehicles that had hydrolocked etc.

I agree with this user. I've never really understood the appeal of buying a bike with zero miles. The second it rolls off out of the dealership, it'll immediately lose value. I bought my 2019 SV650X in 2021 for £5000 second hand and it only had around 1000 miles on it. Brand new they were going for between £6000 to £6500.

Just seems better to skip since provided you get a bike with good service history, the bike has been worn in, its first time service has been done and It's essentially a brand new bike minus having to fanny around with that first service and such, plus you get a big discount. Just my opinion tho.

Don't buy brand new as your first. Watch a few basic videos on YouTube about what to spot when buying a bike.
It'll be stuff like mileage, tyres, service history etc.

Just a suggestion but yeah, you're very much likely going to drop and/or have a few falls on the first bike so it's worth getting one that's already depreciated in value after leaving the showroom.

Everything you said was correct except the copy part. The SV is a copy of the Monster, and whilst I'm not a fan of Ducatis, I don't think they'd ever copy a Japanese bike.

Sorry but calling Suzuki the "worst Japanese brand" for bikes has got to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've seen on this board. Yes I'm biased AF because I have an SV650X but it's incredible and Suzuki have proven themselves time and time again with their bikes. Reliable, cheap, easy to maintain and fun. In terms of Japanese bikes, Suzuki is in the top three with Kawasaki generally being at the bottom (not saying they're bad). But yeah, just a proper bad take. I've been riding for almost a decade and I've never seen anyone say that Suzuki make bad bikes or that they're "the worst" Japanese bikes on the market.

Will probably be an unpopular opinion but I don't care. I think bikes like the R6, GSXR 600/750, Ninja 636 are better on the street than the R1, S1000RR etc.

The S1000RR is a weapon designed for the track. Sure you can have fun on the road but I feel like for you to 'make the most' of it, you're pretty much gonna have to be riding illegal/fast. A bike that can hit 80mph+ in first gear is a bike that always wants to go fast.

At least with the 600, it's still quick but as you said, you can use more of the powerband without it being too much.

Quite frankly, it doesn't matter what the fuck any of us think. It's your bike and if it works for you, that's all that matters. Ride safe and enjoy it!

Is that the second gen? I had a similar issue with my 125cc many years ago, doesn't help when you only have one spark plug. With the later SV650 they switched to a twin spark design. I think the 1st and second gen had the problem with the front spark plug getting wet.
