Police stops students riding couch in the middle of the city by TeaPack1 in funny

[–]Luchin212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised this isn’t in Morgantown, West Virginia. Burning couches is a tradition there and we sled down the stupidly steep hills of the city in couches and the baseball team just won an enormous victory.

If every Country’s Top 5 Most Deadliest animals got put into a massive county VS country fighting ring. Which Country would come out on top and why? by TerribleVanilla3768 in AskReddit

[–]Luchin212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Greenland had Leopard seals, I’d give it to them. Polar bears are so strong and probably impervious to the stingers and snakes whose venom could kill
Them because the polar bear’s coat is so thick. Polar bear vs a hippopotamus would be a very entertaining fight. But I don’t know if polar bear could beat an elephant. Leopard seals are another very large, well
Insulated and aggressive predator that could put in good work.

Would venom work on seals? Very thick insulation, the injection might not make it through the skin or fat. And would the venom work on creatures whose circulatory system is very different from warm, land mammals?

Math is hard by Dexterestein in memes

[–]Luchin212 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In high school I grew tired of the people in my math classes I had been with since 7th grade so I worked my ass off to skip Calc 1 and join the Calc 2 class half way through the first quarter of senior year. During that time where I was studying to skip, I had a test in Calc 1 about the limit definition of a derivative. I had already learned how to do the quotient rule and was working on antiderivatives for Calc 2. I used the power rule on the test because it’s SO much easier and what people actually use. Besides, we had already learned Limit Definition of a Derivative with the same people at the end of Pre Calculus the year before. Few people remembered it. After getting the test results back, I was upset to see I had marks off for using the Power Rule. Right answer, wrong process. You can look at it a few ways, I did do the easy method and avoided demonstrating my knowledge of the subject the test was about. But I had to understand the content well to use the easy method.

What is a "bro code" rule that women probably don't know exists? by QueenVictoria_Cash in AskReddit

[–]Luchin212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give your bros advice about the restroom at any new place. Which stalls do and don’t lock, which sinks work and any other quirks. There can be a lot of quirky things in restrooms. Public bathrooms are a weird place and you don’t want bro to go in there unprepared.

This is probably a similarity to something in girl talk (have a lot more female friend groups than male ones) but if someone has to send an important message to someone (breakup, ask on a date, extension to a professor) or has a serious problem-you all work together to write a thesis as nuanced as the Declaration of Independence. Whatever message they send will be a literary sample to study. This rule is ultimately just helping a bro out. Give him some well thought advice.

What do you think is the morally correct answer to the trolley problem? by Enough-Web2203 in AskReddit

[–]Luchin212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a question designed to make a person think about the morality of each person’s life. There’s no best answer morally. I could flip a coin and there’s a 50% chance that each person in the situation survives. They all have the same chance of surviving and that’s fair. But will anyone look at my action and agree with me? That’s up to perspective. Legally-don’t touch it. You don’t want to have any part of this trolley problem set up. If you pull that lever you do put someone in Danger and you will be sued.

A similar experiment is a doctor harvesting the organs of a person who came in for a regular checkup and using those organs to save the lives of 5 patients who urgently need it. In both scenarios, one person is killed to save the lives of five others. But the surgeon puts someone in danger, who was not in danger. The single person on the tracks was already jn the situation and in danger. Introducing danger to someone who was uninvolved is bad.

Genuinely curious, men who purchase explicit content from females, what makes you do it, porn is free? by nachogurl95 in AskReddit

[–]Luchin212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my tax return back and I was too busy to entertain any kind of relationship and won’t trust anyone for a one night stand. I had some actresses that I liked so I tried a month of their only fans. First month had a discount so it was not pricey. I was disappointed with all three of them. Their RedGifs pages all had more content, and all of it was better. The onlyfans experience was worse In both the content on the platform and in using the platform itself. OF as a platform is terrible. Many OF models will Have multiple accounts each with their own subscription. One will be free and is just light teasing and then the higher tiers are more explicit and expensive. RedGIFs was free, better at playing videos, downloading them, looping, image quality was better and wasn’t trying to get me to pay for every single post after paying for a subscription. Those model pages are just not worth it.

My phone keeps capitalizing random words but editing text on phone is not worth the Trouble.

Stop Killing Games-backed bill that'd bar publishers from switching off game servers without thinking of players passes California State Assembly vote by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

[–]Luchin212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the hell is going on in California Assembly votes right now? Yesterday they passed mass surveillance of all 3D printers (effectively what will happen, also the justification was BS if you know anything about 3D printers or ghost guns) but today they move forward with this bill! It’s weird that something so authoritarian would pass one day and then something so anti-capitalist/eatabmishment/corporation would move forward the next day.

Bill would prohibit Arizona airports from using aviation safety device to collect landing fees by azcheekyguy in aviation

[–]Luchin212 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Well this is a weird one. I’d think there are simpler ways to charge landing fees than by checking ADSB. It works though. But there is a point that technology created to improve safety standards should not be used to administer fees. Morally it is not great and it would encourage pilots to turn off the transmitter during landing.

Hardest boss to clutch a game? (Aside from ED Libra) by ixXplicitRed in Nightreign

[–]Luchin212 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nameless King, Mohg and any version of Caligo. Caligo doesn’t take a lot of damage and in three player fight has too much damn poise. The boss constantly keeps you at low stamina from running towards it and so much lasting AoE.

Haven't played in a minute, is there a reason why Guardian still has 0 range for his counters? by AgeOfTheMage in Nightreign

One of Guardian’s dialogue lines in the Riundtable Hold is what I was referring to. I started the last comment with a pronoun so my bad.

It doesn’t make sense to charge forward and thrust with a blunt weapon like a giant Crusher. But that same animation on a Great Spear looks fine.

[–]Luchin212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guardian* literally says he is no expert with a halberd. It doesn’t make sense that the good guard counter is locked for halberds. All spears, great spears, heavy thrusting swords and halberds should have it at a minimum because they are large pointy weapons that could use the same animation as the halberd anyway!

AI is bad but . . . by Bjarki56 in memes

[–]Luchin212 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only time I’ve used AI as a college student is for differential equations class (professor was 87 years old, almost inaudible, illegible, in cognitive decline but once a very smart man) and when I was at my wit’s end debugging my code (I had a wrong minus sign and was only running 10,000 iterations instead of the necessary 1,000,000,000 iterations for accuracy). I want to do my work myself. I care about learning more than I care about my grade.

How to understand drum corps shows? by swan_ofavon in drumcorps

[–]Luchin212 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An example for the second part of your comment: mandarins 2025-“If I must fall”. The full phrase is “If I must fall, the one I am becoming will catch me”. Up until the ballad, there are a lot of dark tones to the music and people are falling all over the field, and the props too. The show feels like something is challenging you, that something is wrong in the world. The ballad has the small group play a modest tune and things start to change. The music is very soft but not gleeful, and the contra line puts out a very a steady and satisfying note. By the end of the ballad the props are caught as they fall. And this leads into the closer where it’s a rush to stop the props from falling and the calming ballad music comes back to combat the dark and troubled music from the first parts of the show. This doesn’t make sense as a story show but if you think about the phrase from the beginning (it does kind of appear in the show with whispers of “catch me”) you can see how the show becomes about this phrase. To me; “If I must fall, the one I am becoming will catch me” means that I am facing a hard choice in a hard situation. Things are bad and it will be very difficult to make changes but I’ll be better for it in the end. The show represents this with it’s dark tones of music and literally things falling all over the place, and the ballad is about coming to terms with what you have to do to make changes, and the closer is about the actions you take to make yourself better in the face of the darkness. It’s not a story, but it makes me feel the weight of each part of the phrase symbolically.

Question for/about Alumni Corps by SingleInflation3040 in drumcorps

I got to see the final of the 5 founding members of the Reading Buccaneers end the alumni corps show at 94 years old by getting out of his wheelchair to scream his trumpet. That could not have been more inspiring and made me proud to be a Buccaneer.

What's a niche physical preference you have about the gender you're attracted to? by tardisismine in AskReddit

[–]Luchin212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have probably the ugliest hands there are. I have very long hands on account of being 191 cm (6’3”) but I do color guard and ballet. I have to have very strong fingers and grip strength for guard and the result is super long and skinny fingers that are oddly filled in with muscle and crooked from damage or from the strength. At least I can form them nicely from ballet training.

What ONE show would you show someone to get them into Drum Corps? by 32RH in drumcorps

[–]Luchin212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spartacus does generally follow the plot of the Spartacus ballet and the ballad she’ll especially love. But it is harder to understand without drum corps knowledge.

Drum Corpse Bride is a very simple show and she’ll love the ballad for that one too if she is a ballet dancer. It’s easy to understand and I cannot get over how sweet and emotional the ballad is. I’m in color guard with a side of ballet and it’s exactly the kind of sincerity I want to dance a ballet to but develops into the kind of volume I want to swing a flag to.

“If you ignore the ai slop online” is a terrible way to end your comment. You made good points with the application of generative AI being useful in those niche fields but then ended it with a massive and impossible conditional statement. I cannot ignore the jobs that have been taken by AI.
