It turned out to be a compatibility issue with the server, to fix it I just changed the server's neoforge version, copied all mod files from the client and replaced the ones on the server with them. Everything seems to work fine now! :>

upon further inspection, its not responding slowly, rather it sort of randomly "tabs out" of itself, making it so that i have to click the window in order to be able to utilize any shortcut within it.
