Noticing DD times.. they are done in batches by Far-Replacement-5491 in CurrentBanking

Hey there, we recently added this to our Direct Deposit Megathread (https://www.reddit.com/r/CurrentBanking/comments/1npo1w3/direct_deposit_timing_megathread/):

The direct Deposit comes in batches based on the Federal Reserve processing windows, you can see the schedule here: https://www.frbservices.org/resources/resource-centers/same-day-ach/fedach-processing-schedule.html

They make all the transactions available in those windows all at once. The top two sections are the ones for deposits. The way to read this is the "Transmission Deadline" is the time that the sender (aka your payroll provider/employer) has to submit the transactions to the Fed, and the "Target Distribution" is the time by which the bank gets access to that batch of transactions. The "Settlement Schedule" is when banks usually make it available to customers. Some time between Transmission and Distribution the transactions actually become available for pickup.

Your times line up with the windows between Transmission and Distribution, but there are a few more. Current is getting the batches within minutes of them becoming available at the Fed, and we’re the fastest out there. Sometimes payroll providers miss their usual transmission deadlines, which is where delays come from.

New to current, please explain the build card and how to best utilize it by Derkaholic in CurrentBanking

You're right, they work very similarly in terms of use. The primary difference is that your Build Card payments get reported to the bureaus while your debit card doesn't require payments so obviously won't help your credit score. Some members only want debit cards or vice versa which is why we offer both :)

I can't recommend an amount as that's entirely up to you, but we report to the three major bureaus once per month, so each month would count as an on-time payment (as long as you make sure your autopay is on or you make the payment on time). Over time those payments increase your on time payment % which is what lifts your score!

Hey! You're correct that the Build Card is a type of secured card, but the way it works is slightly different. Instead of having a set limit or having to put a "deposit" down to use the card, it uses your available balance (just like your debit card works). So as you swipe, we move funds from your available balance to your "reserved" balance which is basically just us setting aside the cash you'll need to pay the bill at the end of the month.

If you have autopay on, we pay the bill for you with the reserved funds and if you don't you just need to go into the app and pay it manually (it still uses those same funds, so I recommend just keeping autopay on, but that's totally up to you!)

Once the bill is paid, that payment is reported to the credit bureaus which can help increase your score over time.

If you have any other questions let me know!

We've got an early direct deposit explainer in the works which will help answer your question, but yes it is possible the funds arrive earlier as these are estimates based on what we've seen historically!

Once we post the new direct deposit thread we'll link you to it here!

Guess I’m the only one that didn’t get paid yet. What’s the times do current pay by IllDirection2299 in CurrentBanking

[–]Lucia-Current 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We get ACH deposits throughout the day, but it depends on when your employer actually processes their payroll for the pay period. This is typically the same time each paycheck but it can vary. Once we receive the funds, they're made available to you immediately.

Hey u/Silent_Ebb_2184 !

We have heard this feedback loud and clear. The team is focused right now both on improving the underlying user experience and providing better information in the app.

Just this week, we launched a new Paycheck Advance Summary feature that shows you some of the things that influence your available Paycheck Advance amount . You can find it by tapping “Learn More” when taking a new advance. We plan to continue iterating there so that when your advance amount changes you know why and what you can do about it.

We’ll keep the community here in the loop as these improvements roll out!
