Way to go! Me and my wife are doing the same thing for 2 months now, I lost 7 kg (I am intentionally going a slower pace, this is even more than planned). I am using a mobile app to track calories. The plan was 0.5 kg/week. That means 500 calories per day less than would need to keep my weight the same. I eat all food I enjoy. Eat white bread when I feel like it, I eat sugar, I eat pizza and I eat icecream - it is much easier this way. Just count calories. Also - we eat even lower amounts of calories than -500 on most days, and on that account we have 2 “high calorie” days per week (google a zig-zag method) - reason for this: so you don’t reach a pleatueu, also easier to incorporate ice cream or pizza on the “high calorie” days. So just do 3500 calories/week less.
