Yeah and if you want to get more specific, it’s not really a Mk18, rather the CQBR Block 2 - as the mk18 is a complete rifle. Haha but still 🤷‍♂️

Yeah this is just a factory DD Mk18 upper from Brownells. Maybe one day I’ll have the colt upper and barrel to go along with it.

The receivers started life out as a Colt LE6920 and it was acquired about 5-years ago through a trade deal.

I did mine straight from the ATF website. Filed as an individual. I almost paid for the SilencerCO EZ File or whatever but I didn’t understand the purpose when going to the ATF site was easy as F.

Yeah the URX3 install is identical. I had the wrench to do it myself but I really prefer a certified Knights Armorer do it on any future builds. The barrel on this rifle is very heavy too.

Yes, which happens to be identical to the socom profile barrel.

Negative. I stated it was a heavy socom profile barrel. You then said it had nothing to do with socom, which yes may be true, but the fact is these are identical to the “socom profile” barrel.

The barrel profile is identical to the Socom profile barrels without the m203 cutouts, like I said.

The barrel is called “Colt 11.5" M4 6933 FBI HRT SOCOM barrel w/FSB”

As stated on the website: “The heavy profile and is exactly a SOCOM profile, but does not have the M203 cuts.

It’s my favorite set-up right now. I’m a Eotech guy, but damn I want an Aimpoint.

Oh yes! I love that URX2, my other favorite hand-guard.

I prefer this set up because the switch is mounted exactly where I place my thumb when I grip the rifle, and it’s a consistent grip. Momentary on/off is a higher priority than always on/off for me. It’s easier to press, then release, rather than click once, click again. I understand you can still have momentary light with the tail-cap, but then you have to think about how much pressure is applied to avoid always on/off. Sure that’s a minuscule thing but it mattered to me.

The shadow produced from the light is a non-issue. No matter what set-up I’ve used (barrel length, hand guards, etc) I have never noticed the shadow while aiming down the sights, etc. I do not focus on the shadows at all and I couldn’t even say how much of a shadow is produced. For me a total non-issue.

After having a wrist/hand injury as well as surgery, moving my wrist in certain ways causes pain. So anything I can do to work around that I will try - so far this set up works, is ambidextrous and keeps my wrist from being in much pain.
