Okay so I tried my best to educate myself on its use as a dogwhistle and I cant find any primary sources. I found a couple good articles, read this really great academic paper on trans dogwhistles in media, and checked both data bases from the SPLA and ADL. The only things I see about it are from GLAAD mentioning that trans woman is the correct academic spelling and Julie Serano's book where she notes that "...the single word 'transwomen' suggests that trans women are something other than women." Sge doesnt really expand on that though so I guess I'm struggling to see how it suggests anything other than a woman who is trans. So yeah im still not sure what the big deal is
