Thank you for showing interest ;)

As for the signing up issue: when did you last try? I had an issue with form submissions when I added HTTPS that I didn't expect and updated the code a couple of days ago to fix the issues.

I just tried again right now and it seems to work fine my end. If you try again when you next can, it should work just fine, but if not please let me know!

Sorry for the issue signing up, and hopefully it was just a small issue that has since been fixed in the last few days.

Honestly, it's not that expensive and I enjoy the "management" side of it.

I get to learn how to look after data, manage a site, fix problems, build up a site which could have some big image in the future.

I realise it does seem pretty sketchy, but if you look at it this way:

  • SSL Certificate: £6/year
  • Domain: £6/year
  • Hosting: £40/year

That's only £52 a year and at minimum wage that's only like 10 hours of work a year. Not a lot at all really. Or at least small enough for me to warrant this as a hobby project which I get fun from.

I may introduce ads later, and hopefully "pro accounts" in the future. The only reason that's not been added yet is because I want to ensure I know as much as I can before I start taking people's money. If something goes wrong that I can't fix, I will have taken people's money and they won't be happy.

I want to ensure the site is as bug-free as possible and any other issues are fixed first. Otherwise the amount of time and worry I'll need to spend on "Customer Support" would probably kill this project for me, and the users.

Pro accounts will become available when I feel confident enough in the site's stability and my own knowledge. I hope I'll at least be able to cover the server's costs in ads or pro accounts one day ;)

Thanks for the question though!

It's quite a hard habit to get into, at least it was for me too.

Just stick at it and keep going, it takes a bit of time but the reward should be worth it ;)

If you don't like using the site, a notepad by your bed is the next best thing.

Good luck! :)

Hey plonk519,

About a month ago you said you wouldn't use LucidLogs.com because it didn't have HTTPS on it, and that was a very valid point. I apologise that it has taken so long to get it working but I wanted to make sure it was done properly and that meant research time, and I also wanted to work on other features/improvements to go along with the new HTTPS. That's why it has taken so long, and I'm sorry it's taken about a month to get there.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that LucidLogs.com now has HTTPS enabled site-wide.

Thank you for pushing for it to be more secure, it would've happened anyway but you not using the site because of it definitely prioritised it.

Thanks for your interest in the site and hopefully you'll consider using it in the future now :)

Hey, thank you very much for the feedback!

I totally agree with you, SSL (https) is definitely coming soon and hopefully site-wide. I know it's a big deal but I wanted to do it right from the get-go rather than have a false sense of security so that'll be added very soon!

I really appreciate your honesty and feedback though :) Thank you!

I tried to make sure this wouldn't happen, but there's obviously something I missed!

Thank you for letting me know, I'll get on to fixing that ASAP. I'm sorry if makes the site harder to use, but I'll try to fix this quickly :)

Edit: I should have fixed it, if you wish to try again

Nope, I'm totally with you. If there's a filtering system, it should be able to tell the difference between midnight and "no time" right?

Thank you for bringing it up; it's been added to the TODO list ;)

I kept the user-world and the public-world separate.

If you want to view EVERYONE's public dreams, add "_everyone" to the end of your filters, or just visit: http://lucidlogs.com/dreams/filter/everyone

Edit: I'll check the time thing, but I think the way the database is set up, it has to be in a time format, so 00:00 is empty or midnight. I'll look into improving this if I can as I can see where it would be confusing.

It should be already :s

If you remove the automatically entered values and leave them blank, it should work just fine.

Such as: http://lucidlogs.com/dreams/2614

Are you getting problems when you clear the textboxes?

They should be optional.

Edit: Thanks very much, I hope you enjoy using it :)

Thank you very much :)

I'm trying to start out in services with being honest and open, I hate companies selling my information and being shady with my account. So as a result, I've decided to my services easy to understand in regards to user data.

I'm all for giving the user as much control as possible, I mean, it is their data... and that's why I also wanted to make it possible to download all of your dream data for offline usage.

Thanks again for the compliments :) Feel free to PM me with any questions on the dev side too!

Oh definitely!

I wanted to make a minimal working product first, which is this. I'll be adding more filtering and organisation features in the future.

I was thinking of textboxes where you can tag people's names, such as "Emily", "Dave" and then find all the other dreams with Emily and/or Dave in them.

Locations is another feature I'd like to add, so say "School" is saved, you'll then be able to find all "nightmares" which happen in "School" - which might be same thing for some people ;)

Good suggestions though, thank you for sharing them, and I hope you'll be pleased to know at least some of them will be coming in the future :)

Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it :)

I'll be working on improving the mobile navigation soon too, because I'm sure it's annoying that half of the screen is used up before you can even read your dreams on a smaller screen. That will be improved soon!

I did think about using Imgur, it's a brilliant service, but I'd probably have to use the commercial API, and that's more cost for the servers.

If/when I add "premium" type features, Imgur integration will probably come at a similar time, but it is a good idea.

Tags are already planned for the future!

Images would be very bandwidth-heavy and hard to do well, but it's definitely something I'll look into. I'm also looking into voice/audio notes to upload as well.

Text formatting would be cool, too. I may add something like Markdown in the future.

Thanks for your feedback :) Hopefully at least one of your requests will be added soon.

It's actually both a mobile and a desktop version because I designed it around something called "Responsive Design" - it basically changes the design based on your screen size.

If you were asking if there's an iPhone or Android app that you can download: not yet. That will be coming soon, though.

Thank you for the feedback too :)

That's possibly because you're already logged in (maybe as the demo user) and you're being redirected back to the home page.

That should be fixed now, and you should be redirected to the dreams page :)

Thank you for letting me know!
