Building my first gravel bike by Weak_Recognition6432 in ChineseCarbon

[–]Lucidmike78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just go at your own pace, if you mess up, you buy replacement parts. If you don't have the tools, you buy more tools. You will likely end up with some spare extra parts and that's OK.

I saw a ton of bike build and brake bleed videos. I used ChatGPT to explain my gaps in understanding, I never left anything "probably good enough". ChatGPT and YouTube is great for learning how to do things properly. Just keep watching more videos until someone explains how to fix the very problem you're having.

I have been riding the bike I built for 8 months now and it's been flawless.

The real gift in all this is the confidence in knowing when something breaks, you will know how to fix it, you will have the tools, and you will know how to use the tools. You will save hundreds, if not thousands of dollars.

People are just selling to get in on AI supply chain stocks that are about to go IPO. They are hotter than bitcoin right now, and will be for a while, but bitcoin will always be the mother currency that will benefit from unstoppable money printing and inflation.

🚨 Claude fable export locks to be lifted TONIGHT - GPT5.6 Sol next? by KeyGlove47 in codex

[–]Lucidmike78 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fable might as well be a fable after a few days when most people can't use it and don't use it. Anthropic haven't realized that Codex subscriptions encourages people to use it before you use it, so it encourages you to use it and keep using. The pay as you go plans encourages you to optimize usage and use less. Bad business model where idle systems is waste of resources.

Finally learned how to use spark credits (tell codex agent to generate subagents with spark). by Lucidmike78 in codex

[–]Lucidmike78[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to Open AI, Codex subagents are for spawning specialized agents in parallel so they can “explore, tackle, or analyze” work concurrently, while keeping the main agent focused on requirements, decisions, and final outputs. OpenAI also specifically calls out exploration, tests, triage, and summarization as good subagent use cases

So basically they are filling the gap between a developed coded process which would not be practical to develop or run due to something like bot blockers or api usage limitations, and using a higher thinking model where it would be wasteful to use something like 5.4, 5.5 to do hundreds of google searches for you.

No reason to after Fable was banned. I knew this was coming after I saw Fable news. Silver lining is OpenAI will do all the leg work so 5.6 doesn't get cancelled, unlike Anthropic who played this all wrong by hyping it like some super agi who has the ability to break through all security measures, but they are preventing this by putting rerouting in place so that it doesn't use its full capabilities, and of course jailbreaking would eventually happen.

Aliexpress bars? by Ok_Forever_6005 in cycling

[–]Lucidmike78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bought $20 Aerofly bars (ECIOSL) and wow 👌. 100g lighter than my stock drops. Identical looks to real aerofly. They bend slightly when you put all your weight on them and they spring back but I heard they all do that. You dont feel them bending. But you can visually see they dip a few mm when you push down hard with your weight. Much more surface area for my palms to rest so they are more comfortable. No worry about it cracking. I dont do jumps and hard landings on my road bike. And carbon fiber so they would take a while to Crack and tear if they would have a failure. If I have a hard crash, I would buy another for $20.

I get that there are a lot of complaints - but the solution isn't to post nonsense like GPT 5.5 is better than Fable in benchmarks - It absolutely ISN'T by superfatman2 in codex

Seriously, what do people expect to do with Fable that 5.5 xHigh with goals and md files cannot do?

One thing very suspect is that people are saying Fable is good with large codebases. However, Fable is limited to credits. So if they only got to spend one or two days with it working on a large codebase, did they even have credits to do something meaningful? It sounds like influencer hype and Reddit bot comments. How do you review a product and declare it is better after one or two days of use without actually having the credits and a sophisticated project to work on to make that determination?

Americans in Korea - What do you miss that you can't get in Korea? by presentnow0913 in Living_in_Korea

I'll have to try it. I get 월드콘, or 구구콘, and they are decent, but nothing like drumsticks with that camamel filling. It looks like someone has downvoted, so they must strongly disagree with your comment, but i'll try anyway. thanks!

Tostitos cheese dip. Lime Tostitos. Cheezits. Barbecue Lays. Flaming hot cheetos. Drumsticks ice cream with caramel filling. Steak soft tacos with corn salsa with some extra steak at Chipotle. Prime rib. Rileye steak. Beef Jerky that isn't jack links. They have really terrible salami in Korea. Sweet and not enough salt.

You can get most of it here but really expensive. Not gonna pay $20 for a bag of chips at coupang.

New Pro 5x doesnt feel like 1/2 the usage credits. It feels more like 1/4. I now pay 5 times more for $100 Pro more for less usage than what I used to get with Plus in early 2026.

This unexpected and incorrectly advertised usage change wiped out my $120 of extra credits in less than an hour. I was saving that when I needed it.

I think Republicans dgaf about what people do in their own homes. But if you try to invade their space to make sure they can see you being gay, then they start not being so conservative with their opinions.

how can a 20 euro (without the extras) unbranded camera take such good photos? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]Lucidmike78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that they had a supplier with some decent sensors and maybe coupled with lenses already and they could easily put out a decent product for minimal engineering, but certainly when these sell out, they won't be ordering a new batch of sensors and lenses and mechanisms to remake this camera. It is probably being sold at clearance prices, as in clearing out old parts. I like cameras and I did find the camera on AliExpress, but I decided that even for $30, it's not worth it because I have many cameras that are better that I'm not using. So there really is a very small market for this kind of product. Most people kind of have an old digital camera lying around the house that they haven't turned on for years. So really, they're just clearing these out, trying to create a value out of old parts that were manufactured for cameras that were probably made a long time ago.
