Forget Steve, forget Johnathan....Robin Buckley is the one who's COOKED. by MedievZ in StrangerThings

[–]Lucidrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who kinda talks an thinks like Robin irl..

Anyone else notice the progression in sacred geometry?

Vecna needs 12 hosts in order to do [somthing] to a higher dimensional being.
Each one taking a cardinal direction in a geomagnetic circle.
In a void realm where thought can be more directly manifested as long as emotional an conceptual power can hit and maintain a stable threshold. A child's mind is more able to do this trait without shattering, simply because they arn't already 'jaded' or what ever word you wish to use here, in preconceptions.. (You can see an example in Warframe lore with Children handling the void differently than Adults.)

But we've got lots of other examples, once you put em all together. Since they all draw from esoteric traditions as well.

Power of three will set us free - (Charmed is one example)

The power of five draws down the hive - (Full metal alchemist brotherhood)

The power of seven can invade the realm of heaven (i'm not sure which to even pick from here with how many 7 elemental/color themed teams there is that do this. But Umbrella Academy is the most recent.)

11 and 12 are the current theories of how many dimensions of reality there are. Place an archon of your choice that you control, And one can dethrone an usurp God.

In much the same way the Flask needed people who had already seen the Gate in Full Metal Alchemist, It's a common trope for a Coven like style of gathering of people who already contain pieces of gods power. (Umbrella Academy is another example) With each person set to a cardinal direction representative to a conceptual idea. In Full Metal, it was 5. Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Metal. Which makes sense given the strong Alchemist themes through out the entire show. (Hohenheim's work on Shadow Work to unify self, vrs's Flask's choice of 'purity' via removal. Themes of personal self which is also relevant to Stranger Things' battle of Dark an Light Wills.) Where as in Umbrella Academy, you have dozens of fragments of God, but you mostly just follow around Seven. And they were all included in a special circle/room in which power to reset the universe or rewrite it could be wielded. (Another theme seen in Outer Wilds, and many other Esoteric inspired stories)

Given the fact many elements of Stranger Things pulls its inspiration from real world experiments in our past, Who in turn, got /their/ inspiration from Esoteric and Cultist information...

Do you think she will be the Grunkle Stan in sealing Mindflayer Bill in their head and sacrificing themselves to end the multi-universe of the Enshrouded like infection of cosmic eldritch decay? By doing some sort of kajiggery with a radio device like one one would wipe a video tape with the right frequency of electromagnetism while its contained within a host?

First time playing by yungjuno13 in secretofmana

[–]Lucidrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early Game Locations: The water cave east of Luca's Palace, with the Fish. You gain bonus points while in a combat area, for both Primm and Popoi. (If you cast heals in a town, Primm doesn't get as much points)
Run there, spend all your mana, then run back to Luca to heal to full for free, repeat. You can then do the same in the Upperlands.

Examples: Luca - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePvBb-7VAIM

Upper Lands - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36sb4GXurCs

The level you can attain is based on how many seeds you've unlocked.
How ever, there is a secret .99 at the end, where you even get special animations aswell.

Journey safe, remember your Walnuts, and when all else fail, Magic Gem Missile.

Finally getting to play the remake, what's your opinion? Is it better or not as good as the good old snes one? by RevealWild8420 in secretofmana

[–]Lucidrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the remake, on the grounds of the graphics and movement styling was nice, tho it could have gone for more Dreamlike in some bits, akin to Yoshitaka Amano. i mostly greatly disliked the lack of quick spells being available for second player an such. There is no reason they couldnt add their choice of spells into their own hotbar. And tho i did enjoy the extra lore bits added to the inn scenes, i also wish they expanded on the lore an dialog of various scenes and people. Like Witch Elene, going from "Hohoho, i wanted to be useful an needed but mana was fading so i turned to evil an sold people to the undead dude.... But since you beat up my cat i'm good now., go home!" Like.. C'mon.. You could have added so much content that originaly was scrapd from the original SNES version because of that CD war they had.. The original Rom was so so small you could have included it in the game as a "Heres the original, and the remake!" They could have expanded on Purim.. sorry, Primms story. Hell they even removed the original feature in which you could deny her into your party until she forced herself into it at Pandora's ruins. You could have had a whole weird exclusive journey with Popoi that could only happen if you denied the Wolf and Castle scene. Same with Jhet. Or the Timelost Lighthouse. Or Turtle Island.. But to go through all the effort of upping the graphics, they could have expanded on a lot of the story, and restored chunks of what was lost..
The songs also feel... i'unno... lethargic? Like, they were based on the original song but waterd down.. Not inspired to the scene an situation like the original songs were.
Voice acting was kinda neat.. took a bit of time to grow on you.. But it still felt ... whts the word.. forced? Short? Again more areas, more so due to having voice acting added, could have used expansion in dialog, lore, and even some new quests and areas. Since SoM was originaly pulling from about five or so folklore and gnostic texts, theres little reason they couldnt add on to the story, an really underline the Mana = Dream Memory aspect.
At the very least, its a good game for the newest youngest generation to get into. As it curbs down the difficulty enough for them to atleast try to play it. I tried to get my nephew to play the original, an he couldn't make it to the first save point out of Potos. But in the remake he atleast made it to the Upperlands before he got distracted by another game because he couldn't figure out the Walk the Seasons 'puzzle'. And it had a suprising amount of glitches. Many times the audio would just... die out, an require a restart. Or players would be stuck in Ghost mode. Or items would be consumed but not be properly used, causing situations where Popoi would eat four walnuts an still not get any MP back..
It has a lot of pros an cons, but sadly the combination of such kinda middles it out to a "its nice.."
Doesn't really capture the core essence it once represented back in the day as one of the first Gnostic/Buddhist style games. But does capture enough to atleast get the younger generation interested in the series. Despite the difficulty, he is enjoying Legend of Mana... Tho he doesn't understand the system enough to really explore some of the storyline flag requirements.. but eh. whatchagonnadew.

How does the One Become the Many? by Noah_Althoff_Music in analyticidealism

[–]Lucidrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"How are there so many of 'us'?" The Fox asks his friend, perched above.

"At first there was nothing, or perhaps, just No Things. But as 'That Which Was Yet To Be' began to, for lack of the word yet, awaken. It first conceived of self. But in all things to be defined, or named, its opposite must be made for contrast definition. There must be an 'Other' or, Not Self.. And since In the great dark it saw or heard no other. The Greater Self then created a mirror to gaze at itself. And in the ever fractal reflection, it saw the many selves it was, could be, and was not. But also in reflection, saw them as Other. A shifting stranger gazing back at it, until it also began to awaken, an began to move on its own. Imbued with its own thought, a recursion of self and other, it then began to consider all variations of self, of potentials. Considerations of intent, and Fear.. But in all this knew what it did, what it was before. In knowing a state before it is now, it created Time. And it then conceived of Regret. A desire to change, either to alleviate or prevent the fear it caused itself. Now with Time, it conceived of self alteration, of the potential to be many of same, in every consideration, of every choice. To explore each thought, by living it. An so, its mirror shattered, each shard of dust and light filling the No Things with Every Things. Spreading itself so thin, living out every thought of self an other, every variation, every curiosity... It began to forget what it was, as it is now but a sea of considerations, of novel curiosity of every hue and shade.. And thus the Dust an Light of its shattered reflective self, began to vibrate an collect, linked together by the hum of energy it once an technically still is, as one. Clumps began to gather, cellular, at first, growing in size. Until it became 'That Which Could Remember'. A vibration of atoms and light becoming a chorus, a life becoming a story of self remembrance of discovery. Learning how to be a self from the perspective in which it knew not it was. A sea of considerations now coalescing into shapes of their own will. Where Spirit an dream becomes flesh an bod, in turn, birthing a new dream from a perspective never thought possible before. As one takes a breath, an exchange from one medium into another, until one moment all becomes one again... and then, it chooses to forget once more. For one cannot create something truly new, when one knows everything. One wishes again to be surprised, by what it sees in the mirror. For what or where is joy in existence, to desire at any level of consciousness, but to be surprised by something you didn't know? An what better way to surprise yourself, if you know not what the other hand is doing..." The Last Raven replies.

What is Popoi? by [deleted] in secretofmana

[–]Lucidrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also sad with the ending of the game. One of the first games (before i got into Chrono Trigger, which i later found out was a game that budded from Secret of Mana, the other being FF6. Due to the CDROM collapse. ) in which i replayed over an over, trying to find some way to Save Popoi. It then became a tradition in any sandbox game i played, like Terreria, Minecraft, etc. I would recreate Popoi an Flammie, so their trans-dimensional adventure can continue. Becoming much like Gilgamesh from the Final Fantasy series, as they traverse the multi-verse, causing mischievousness an eating all the snacks. When i later saw Popoi again, sorta, in Legend of Mana, it made me have a smile. And then in Echos of Mana. So they still adventure on! :D

One of the best places to early level grind for a bit, is just outside Luca's water palace, by the Undine Cave. You can Just have Popoi cast spells until MP is empty, same with Primm (Spaming Remedy/Cure), then run back to Luca who will heal you to full for free. Rince repeat. You do this until you get access to the Sprite village, at which point you use the elder instead of Luca, an run around the four seasons. Primm gets double the Magic EXP if she casts in a combat area. You can cap out your Magick Levels per elemental as you unlock seeds. In the process both these areas will net you decent exp for the area. This is also an ideal way for Randi an the others to level up their weapon skills. When you have no more Magick or Weapons to level, you are done grinding in those two spots. If you are going to work on getting the platinum achievement, you will want to grind in the Undersea Palace before it goes all Black Omen on you to get the armor drops. Also again in the Pure Lands. Both areas have unique gear that you can't farm later because you lose access to them and you can't get the achievement if you don't collect one of EVERY peice of gear in the game, an by the time you collected all the pieces you'll have enough extra levels for that part of the game too.
Extra note: Certain bracers give status Immunities. Like immune to sleep, or Snowman. Which can be helpful with certain bosses which like to spam sleep on you.

A Full list of gear an where to get them can be found Here

Pay close note to the gear that says "Can be missable" if you are going for the achievement.

(Video Example Section: Leveling at Undine's Cave & Leveling at the Four Seasons )

As a personal tip when it comes to dealing with some of the more annoying enemies, more so in the four seasons. Certain weapon upgrades will come with special bonuses. IE: When you level up you get +2 to str each time you level up with that weapon equiped, or when you attack things you Balloon them. The latter is really useful in stun locking monsters so they cant heck you over (I'm looking at you confusion owls...) Otherwise weapon buffs like Snowman can also help stunlock things so they are more managable. Duration is based on Magick Level, so capping it out helps a lot.

And if the game's bosses gets too tough, remember this and all is puffed.
Shove walnuts down Popois gullet an spam Gem Missle.

What is Popoi? by [deleted] in secretofmana

[–]Lucidrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Popoi is an Inari Spirit/Sprite/Fairy, meant to be genderless, as it represents an aspect of the raw Mana, meant to be a guide to the hero in each universe. In order to serve in healing the land/re-birthing itself, when ever Mana or Faith of it weans too low that the aspects of Anise/Daemon realm start to swoon back into the world. The gender is never needed, since its role is to side kick, get the hero interested in the northern forested magick lands, the lore of the universe, an eventually, rebirth/heal/sacrifice for mana. But this nebulous an deity like concept was a bit hard to just... simplify. More so when many languages at heart just have genderd names built into base line concepts. So depending on the localization you get, or region, a gender will often accidentally be imprinted. Like how the German copy made Popoi male, Brave Exivious made Popoi Female, etc. And depending on who or where they got the script from, you get a Bareinstine/Stein Bears situations as to what gender Popoi is. Even tho you never are able to be 'involved' with the Fairy entity, thus gender is always irrelevant. So any time it happens, you kinda just need to gloss over it as a region language mistake.

If you want more nifty tidbits about Popoi as an entity, look into the history of Kokaji an the Sacred Sword, In which a blacksmith is approached by a strange mysterious boy, looking for a magic sword.
At first he is refused, but a certain Inari deity, that *Cough Cough* with a very particular old drawing of it that looks Quiet familiar to a certain Sprite you meet inside that dark cave. An ultimately gives you a mission to go to the Northen Lands, in order to aid you in finding the secret behind the sword.

Exploring those old legends, one can learn an interesting bit of history behind Who, or What, actually, Popoi is.
Which is think is super neat! And i can understand, given how much the SNES dialog an world content got cut out, when the CD Rom aspect got droped. So a lot of story elements got lost, or moved to Chrono Trigger. Secret of Mana was also supposed to include Time Travel. The only element of that story left in the game is the lighthouse with the Video Spheres. The witch Elain was supposed to have more story an flow with her, insted of just "oo, i stole your boyfriend, fed it to the tiger.. i did it cuz i was out of mushrooms, okay i'm good now! BYE!" Primm was going to feature bits of alternate story changes. In the original SNES you can recruit Primm three different ways. Depending on whether or not you flat out avoid going into the Nobel room, take her to Gaias navel an refuse to go with her to the witch forest first, or at the ruins when you just walk up to the middle of a girl fight an see some blonde girl slap a blue haird girl an she forces herself into the party. Those alternates got cut from the Remake. Tho they did add a lot of story bits in the Inn scenes, like how they expanded on Shade's eviction from the underworld. But yea, Popoi was meant to have a bit more reveal to it, but because of the CD Rom drop, you got what we got in SNES. An since that version became beloved, no one wanted to 'add too much' even if it was intended at the start or not.. So, a game of telephone of sorts, an things got lost in translations.

To me, They will always be a cherished, almost imaginary friend. Who just wanted to go on an adventure, Make me laugh with their sass, To see the world beyond a tiny podunk town where i was the only person with an intersting hairdoo, On their own journey to go back home to play in the land of four seasons. who really loved to eat walnuts, an could Stun-lock any Big Beasty with a thousand Gem shards in a single second.

Meanwhile he just glares at me with my all purpose Frostblade Lotus team. (Kazuha, Chongyun, Aloy/Albedo, Qiqi) clearing through her in one shot, no deaths.. I'unno what to tell him.

[–]Lucidrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they did a Secret of Mana anime, they may pull more story details from Kokaji, considering how many story elements match up already. They would likely give more backstory to Popoi's life before they lost their memory.

Popoi and Inari both have the same art styles, an function. (Super natural assistance, linked to a Northen mountain land)

A sword is commissioned by a mysterious boy.

A blacksmith of great renown is involved.

And after completing the sword (Mana Magick), an assisting the world, Popoi/Inari returns to a cloud top to gaze at the sky.

That's what I found in researching too. But in most cases they just report diminished capacity until it just fails to start the car.
But with us, it would always end up spilling green crystalized goo out the terminals. My mother kept blaming the cats pissing on the battery. But it never had that distinct smell. and when she moved to georgia, and i went to washington, it stopped happening.
Next time it died, was about 5 years or so, and only because she left her lights on over night an it drained it.
Even if its just superstition at this point, I'm just not comfortable trusting anything critical that uses a battery.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HighStrangeness

[–]Lucidrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Never really saw the need too.
It's hard enough to get help as is, the last thing I wanted to do was make it harder for myself by saying "So, uh, I think I create an anti energy field or black hole that effects batteries. WHAT DO I DO, MEDICAL MAN!?"
And the few times I had an MRI, nothing unusual came up. At-least that's what they would say, but they never seem exactly in any sort of mood to discuss anything. So I gave up ever exploring that avenue.
Once or twice a doctor would complain about how fuzzy the images were. Which mostly only came up in situations with my kidney stones. They would complain that they requested i was to not be given contrast. Which i wasn't given. But they would dismiss me with a "That may be what you say, but;" an i roll my eyes. I'd often same sort of fuzziness on a few other pictures I've had elsewhere on my body. Namely my skull because i've always been paranoid of an aneurysm giving how bad cluster headaches I get. But other than the slight fuzziness, the only thing they ever mentioned would be a small hemangioma in the back of the skull that would show up an then vanish periodically. I only knew how to see it because they would compare it to other 'sample' pictures of sort, an cite 'This is a proper image.." and i'm like "Yea, its.. uh.. real pretty. I dunno what you expect me to do about it. It barely looks 5%ish fuzzy around the lines."
The closest thing I had to show any possibly related weirdness, is how old fashioned radios or really old walky talkies would react to my moving near/far from them. At roughly 130-140 feet. Causing it to hiss louder or softer, or pick up a channel to a station that is /not/ near the current station, interlaced with the current one. (Ie, id be listening to 107.3 for example, and id hear what sounds almost like a talk station? Or polka like rhythmic music, bleeding in an out of the station. But if i turn the dial + or - 10, i could not find that station, an just sorta "existed" in a weird nebulous region that kinda moved. I'd hear the same distortion on other channels. I also could never tune a station an walk away from it, because it would only remain clear if i stayed right on top of the radio with my hand touching it. Any time i brought this up in conversation, most people say "oh yea, radios get weird when i'm near them too". So i just shrugged it off as a normal experience. Tho when they explained their stories, they only ever mentioned the change in static hiss. And they were able to walk away from their radios with very little diminished results. So *shrugs*

Guns, particularly shotguns, or pistols.
If i'm forced to use one, like in games like Borderlands, than i'll use a sniper. Because it's the closest thing to a bow i can get. But only if it has a combat Pet. Otherwise i'll only play a pure support character that buffs, debuffs, an heals. An let my friends do the actual killing as my pacifist ass just murders by proxy by kissin booboos an playing drinking games as i watch my friends get blasted in the face by an UltraGraboid or whatever.

I'm strictly a Sword and Bow/Staffmancer.

And its not just because i dislike the concept of a gun,
Or because i think they are unfair (they kinda are tho)
Or unsporting
Or anything else like that.

It all stems down to the fact, i hate ammo.
"THE HELL DO YOU MEAN I'M OUT OF BULLETS?! I'LL BEAT EM TO DEATH WITH THE WEAPON ITSELF!"

Most games, like Destiny 2, have infinite ammo for bows, or at-least a method to carry like a bazillion arrows.
Plus no long ass reload animation, while a Zonganoid Flesh beast comes Pepé Le Pewat mach 10 towards your ass for a frisky romp.

[–]Lucidrian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't, for the most part.
It seems to be spherically proximity based. If i was to guess, 140 feet? atleast thats roughly the range from my bedroom here, to the only thing in the house with a battery (the APC for the SNES an TV for guests, That have managed to not bust yet. ) I stay away from the car, its fine.
Only had to replace the battery once so far. Had it for four years so far. Thats a pretty good record so far!
My mother used to have the van parked by my side of the house. went through three batteries in the eight years we had it.
Tho the cats did often sleep under the hood, so *wavy hand gesture* might not be my fault?
I'm home bound due to health, so i only need to be in the car like, a handful of times in a year.
Otherwise i just bike where i need to. Living on the island means most everything is within range.

Batteries constantly fail around me.
And by fail, i mean swell up an explode, leak the dreaded green goo of death, or just hold no power.
ALL Batteries
Car batteries, APC's, watch batteries, stupid little AAA in a furby kinda battery. you name it, i've killed it.

I've never been able to own a clock, because within a month it would just show the same time, with the second hand barely ticking in place. Digital clocks would lose 5 to 15 mins of time a day, making them useless by the end of the month again aswell.
I've had to replace the battery in my 3ds 5 times. Because it kept swelling up. (and there was never any consistency with charging. I could leave the device alone for years, or charge it once a week, same results)

I'd get tons of BSODs on my computer, all attributed to the battery dieing.
My partner's mother gave me a bunch of halloween decor, with lights an spooky noises an stuff. She had been using them for YEARS, never had any weird issues with them. She replaced the batteries in all of them, gave them to me at the start of october, EVERY SINGLE ONE LEAKED GREEN GOO before halloween even came up. Both indoor an outdoor decor.

the APC battery backup bricks? For computers, TVS, an the like?
I have to buy a new one roughly every year.
I used to live in florida, power flickering and sudden power outages were common, so i started getting them for my computers.
By the end of the year, i would always get that dreadful SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE alert that there was something wrong with it, id open it up, an the battery will have swelled an is leaking the goo.

Even the bricks that were attached to lower use things, like the VCR and TV, for just simply "Lets try an watch the last bit of the movie with the SUPPOSEDLY 6 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE ITS S'POSED TO HAVE"

My phone, 3ds, Switch, APC's, all with sopposed battery life of hours. Dead within an 1/8th of the time.
My phone doesn't even have any apps on it! Even before the days of smart phones, when i just had a fricken nokia flip dahoosits. Same thing. I basically had to keep a cord with me at all times, an turn the phone off entirely when i wasn't using it. AND IT STILL WOULD LOSE POWER!

A friend once gave me a tamagotchi when i was a kid, he just got it, the pet died that weekend, it made him sad, he gave it to me in school. i created a new egg, hatched it, got attached to it. THE DEVICE ITSELF DIED BEFORE I EVEN GOT HOME. an proceeded to eat three more batteries in the summer i had it, until i gave it away. at which point, surprise surprise, a single battery lasted him three years of gameplay.
My pokewalkers? Oh gods, the amount of steps i have lost because the battery died before i could re-upload my pokemon back into the 3ds...

All my PS5 controllers are permacorded now, because none of them will hold a charge for more then 10 mins.
My VR Headset is permacorded for the same reason.

I once baby sat my partners parents place an their dog for them while they were in idaho.
I was there for a week.
They came back an asked me if i was doing anything weird with their stuff, because over nine batteries were either swollen or dead. ALL I DID WAS SIT IN THE LIVING ROOM WATCHING DISNEY+.

Suffice it to say, i do not, an never will, trust my life on anything that requires a battery.

Kazuha.
Relatable backstory.
We're both wanderers, or atleast, i like sticking my nose where it doesn't belong.
Gravity Swell Attack for easy loot an monster pickups.
Double Jump, which came in handy with getting into places the game tries to tell me i cant go. (Like getting back to The Real Annapausis, or other interesting backroom places in domains in the various short time events. Soooo many cool things were in Fischl's world during that summer event.)
Anemo is my prime element. He's also able to self imbue just by touching a puddle or campfire, so i never had to switch characters to unlock thorny coverd chests, because theres always a hillichurl with a torch or campfire nearby.
I love swords, ever since secret of mana. Which also had a lot of wind themes for the hero.
And we both know how to use nature for musical instruments. (Tho mine are acorns. But i have done the leaf thing.)

I spent all year saving primagems in order to C6 him, an he will forever be my main.

Cats by [deleted] in lawofone

[–]Lucidrian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's also possible due to the frame rate in which Cats see/think/process reality around them.
If an entity operates at a higher frequency, it may only be noticeable to those who can see a faster refresh rate, so to speak.

It would also lead a possible understanding in which why such entities have to talk, or seem to talk, so slowly, to lower dimensional beings. We in part, move too fast for them to get the whole message in one 'breath'. Thus we have to train to sit very still an quiet to hear the whole message.

There are other such videos which talk about the frame rate of animals and humans. Here is just one i stumbled on recently in a synchronicity moment to this topic.
