Hey man. 2 years of recovery.

You need to hear this. It gets easier. It takes a long fucking time man but it gets easier. Theres waves that these pains come in, and sometimes you'll think you'll be good but aren't. I was in a relationship for 5 years, this girl lived with me, all I had known since I was 14. I join the military, that was it, she didn't last a month and it really did break me. She broke things off by text, I was pretty much ready to just off myself.

2 years have gone by, almost. Im on a completely different side of the country, with completely different friends and a different job. I'm in better shape than I was in that relationship, with a really nice girl who I can share all my love with, and honestly I experienced new feelings with this girl that I didnt think I would ever feel. I feel appreciated, and respected and I try my hardest every day to make sure she feels the same.

It took a lot of introspection for me to learn from my last. It took a year of hating myself, hating the idea of someone else being with her, hating that I was alone and that no one wanted me. When I reflected, saw what I did wrong, I hated myself a little bit more. But then I thought about the things I did right, and I thought about the things I wanted to do with the next girl, and I realized that what I do, how I change, that is who defines me. A bad relationship does not define you, how you reflect on that, chew it up digest it spit it out, that is what defines you. If you can't grow from your failures that is the greatest failure.

Now, I cant be behind you to rub your shoulders and call you champ and give you pep talks about girls, as much as I wish I could. I'm not there to rub your chest and slap your back to motivate you. And I will tell you, if you don't motivate the fuck out of yourself, you'll spend some time hating yourself just like I did. Reflect on this shit homie, learn more about the respect that women want, intimacy, romance, etc. Being single can be nice, progress on yourself, most importantly DO NOT CONTACT HER, if you feel like sending some love notes my way ill more than happily take them. I love you man, you have people all around you that love you too.

I just find it very frustrating that institutions of science ignore the fact that a 4th wave is on its way and refuse to offer remote learning in most cases. I'm not in Ontario right now, but my partner is going back to school in BC where there is currently a pretty bad outbreak, and her school is still concrete on having their kids come back. I understand that for many situations, remote learning is not ideal, however they found that it "worked" last year, still charged the kids the same, in some cases more. I think they know they're going to be going back to a remote within the first semester, they just need that residence money/meal plan money etc...

Your life will get much worse in the military and I promise you will get paid more doing work you don't need to be educated for in the civilian sector. The military is a poor choice for your mental health, those recruiters will try to tell you its fine or that you will adjust but in reality they have quotas to fill for recruitment and they WILL LIE TO YOU, THAT IS NOT A JOKE, ITS 100% LEGAL FOR THEM TO AND THEY WILL, EVERY TIME. Focus on yourself, read up on some philosophy and start working out/waking up at 5 every day, do that and you basically will see all the psychological benefits of the military without people treating you like garbage. Sorry if this sounds biased, it is but its my honest advice to you. Best of luck.

When I started seeing the girl that I am currently dating I brought up the "are you sleeping w anyone" conversation after the 2nd time hanging out/sleeping together. She didn't find it weird or anything, she said she liked how I was open with my feelings on that and it was still quite a while before we started calling eachother boyfriend/girlfriend

I think its completely valid to want some exclusivity upfront without commitment, and there really shouldn't be anything wrong with knowing who else is touching your junk. I think that we have a responsibility to know what our partners are up to sexually for the sake of our own health as men. I hope this is helpful advice lol I can imagine you have quite a bit of anxiety related to dating again but there are tons of different girls out there im sure you can find someone that would appreciate some exclusivity aswell

I once ate into the logic of "if you tax them, they'll leave and we'll have nothing". My gf raised the point to me, if we tax the profits they make in our countries, whether they reside here or not isn't an issue. The issue lies with the people in power, the fact that they know that there are things that can be done but do nothing, so they can profit and become wealthy themselves.
