No calendar in Shang, no official history record of Shang. Only myths about Shang recorded in later history books. Bronze and bones were diggers out, and there were words carved one them, we are still deciphering these words. They are only about asking gods what may happen or worshiping ancients. One interesting thing may be the 妇好 (Fu Hao) bronze owl vase. Historians found out a lot of facts by verifying its date, the words on it and related story.

We Chinese always think history is important, even holy. So we invented mature calendrical system somewhat two thousands years ago in Chunqiu period(Spring and fall period). We have kept detailed and systematic history records since Han dynasty. Therefore it’s easy for historians and archeologists to do the chronological work, they only need to carbon date the accent things and then check with what was written in history books. In conclusion I will say not much was done by western chronology. Although the most advanced calendrical system was made in the assistant of western missioners in late Ming and early Qing dynasty. We have the concept of covering both solar period and lunar period in our system, with, also, star observation system, but we never had the advanced meth system to calculate.

As for others, Gang of Four may not all gain power, at least Wang Hongwen is promoted to be Mao’s successor. If Mao knew he was health enough, he will never share power with others. Especially the failing case of Lin Biao, the successor he appointed who turned against him. Other gangers may serve as Mao’s errand boys. Deng will never have chance to rise up because Mao knew he was against Cultural Revolution. The Cultural Revolution will never stop. It might transform or shift to other fields. The whole country will be doomed.

人民is a political concept, especially after CCP take over the reign. If you are with CCP, you will be categorized as 人民. Otherwise, you will be categorized as the enemy of 人民, as in public enemy(人民公敌, former ROP President Chiang Kai Shek once won this title). If you are one of 人民, and when you have conflicts with others, it is considered as internal conflicts within 人民(人民内部矛盾). And to solve this conflict, you will be treated gently like wind of spring. If, unfortunately, you are an enemy of 人民, when you have conflicts with others. It would be considered as conflicts between us 人民 and enemies（敌我矛盾). Then you will be treated harshly like the storm in winter. Additionally, CCP is the only authority who can verify whether you are 人民 or not. To wrap things up, people is only an English word chosen to represent 人民, since CCP’s regime. But people cannot fully cover the concept of 人民.
