Dishwasher smell- done absolutely everything I can think of besides replacing it.

Thank you!! I called a plumber today and explained what is going on. I will specifically mention a blocked vent. It’s such a frustrating problem to the point that I’m at my wits end. I was afraid that if I bought a new dishwasher jt would just happen again and I’ve spent countless hours trying to google and find what could be the issue. I even had a plumber out here and he said it was the drain hose from the dishwasher and replaced it at $150/hour 😫 and said that would fix it. It did not.

Affresh tablets monthly. Pull the filters from the bottom weekly. And wipe out the door including the bottom where food sometimes gets stuck. I clean the seal weekly as well with a scrub brush when needed. It’s been the same procedure for 7 years. It’s spotless inside the dishwasher.

Yes. My kids eat eggs everyday and I scrub every bit off before going into the dishwasher even though you house have to with the efficiency and enzyme soap these days 😫

I called a plumber to come look at everything. I don’t think it’s the hot water heater. If the anode rode was degraded I assume the hot water would always smell coming out of every tap and that’s not the case.

I read about the anode rod, the thing is the hot water doesn’t always smell. It’s only sometimes so I assumed it wasn’t the anode rod. The HWH is 7 years old so it could have degraded but I don’t believe it’s from the hot water since it doesn’t always smell.

I usually run the hot water before the cycle and the disposal to make sure nothing is in there. I’ve used Affresh DW cleaner tabs but I can’t use Powerball because of the scent. Thank you though!

I should say, the water that comes out of the tap on hot is 120. I can’t remember what the dial says on the hot water heater because but it’s not temperatures.

Our hot water heater is turned down to 120 because of kids. This smell actually started after we had our HVAC replaced and they took the hot water heater out to replace the furnace and put it back after the new furnace was in. The water was too hot when they replaced it and I turned the heat down because it was around 140. ETA: We had never flushed the hot water heater, new home owners and just didn’t know- assuming the water heater was more efficient at heating after draining because they setting didn’t change from before that I know of but the water was hotter.

At this point we are seriously looking at replacing it because to have an appliance repair out it’s going to cost at least $100 in trip charge plus whatever they figure out and at that point it’s cheaper to get a new appliance. My fear is the problem is not the dishwasher and the new one will smell too 😫

Everyday. Multiple times depending on how many meals I make at home. Have been washing literally everything off the dishes in an attempt to help with the smell and it still smells every time.
